Bentley
Can we make it official?

http://www.newsarama.com/comics/pak-van-lente-alpha-flight-110828.html

Glad to see that Pak can still pull great comebacks for old characters into a new rewarding reading experience. Alpha Flight started strong and the readers followed, there was the Planet Hulk run and then Incredible Herc. That's to say he's brilliant starting new concepts but can he keep it up long enough?

I'm going to see how and when to pre-order the first TPB, hopefully this arc will be collection material.

-K-M-
Yes great news as there has only been three issues out and its better then most marvel titles out now. The art alone is worth a buy.

Its common for an on-going to become a mini, but a mini becoming an on-going? Very rare

-K-M-
The Master of the World returns! Called it

Bentley
WTF...

-K-M-
Yeah I don't get it, that's Marvel for you

-Pr-
Apparently they've cancelled several books and laid off quite a bit of staff too. It almost feels like they're downsizing...

Oh snap.

Is this the DC Ascendancy period?

I've seen higher-ups say that they aren't lagging behind DC, or that when they are it isn't by much.

I dunno tbh, but you'd think with Disney's backing they wouldn't need to be doing shit like this.

-K-M-
Yeah Greg Pak mentioned 15 people were fired. Even some minis which were not even half way done were canceled so they finished at issue #3 rather then #6.

It's interesting as Alpha Flight was still selling better then several other on-goings.

-Pr-
It was supposed to get converted in to a regular book, iirc.

Digi
They're just trolling the Alpha Flight fan.

no typo.

It was, they officially annouced it became an on-going at FanExpo

They are, same thing happened with the Omega Flight series. It was supposed to be an on-going but even before the first issue came out they downgraded it to a mini for no reason.

Ghey.

srankmissingnin
Are we sure the original final issue solicit just wasn't updated when Alpha Flight became an ongoing?

-K-M-
Yep, Greg Pak and Dale confirmed it was cancelled.

Which is a shame as it really was one of Marvel's better books on the market. The art and the story telling was all very well done.

-K-M-
Marvel must be hurting, their even cancelling minis even before the first issue comes out

Is this just prejudice against Canada in general?

Omega Flight was supposed to be an ongoing series four years ago, until Marvel reneged.

Connect the dots. shifty

-K-M-
Wow another mini cancelled

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/11/07/now-marvel-cancels-destroyers-series-from-fred-van-lente-and-kyle-hotz/

Blight
That's unfortunate. I may have actually started collecting this.

Bentley
I was planning to myself, now that it is useless I will continue my cosmic collection and then we'll see...

-K-M-
It wasnt even solicited and they cancelled it, that's brutal

EDIT: Blight did you mean the Destroyers mini or Alpha Flight?

Blight
Alpha Flight. What was the destroyers mini?

Bentley
For reelz? At times Marvel should just shut up with their future plans.

I was going to read that sad

-K-M-
And the Victor Von Doom mini was cancelled before issue #1 came out as well.

Blight
Had they planned an ongoing for penance or was it just a mini?

Bentley

Well, that one I wasn't very interested, but the inmediate future doesn't bode well for my love of D-listers.

Ghost Rider cancelled

X-23 cancelled

Thread title should be changed to "Marvel cancels everything that isn't true* Thor, Avengers, Wolverine, FF, Spider-Man, X-Men, Deadpool and Hulk, and Wolverine, Wolverine, and Wolverine"

*There's no way new Thor lasts long. That shit's getting canceled too.

-K-M-
Now Black Panther is cancelled

They have to make place to other shitty books featuring Spider-Man, and Wolverine.

jalek moye
And marvel continues to force me to DC with all these cancellations

Bentley
Dang, why don't you go ahead and cancel FF? eek!

JakeTheBank
Don't joke around about that.

Iron Man 2.0 is another one that has been cancelled.

Another one is gone

Daken's Book

laughing out loud

what the hell is going on

The recent for the cancellations is simple. Illegal file sharing of comic books means some comics do not achieve the sales needed to survive. Blame the file sharing downloaders.

Kazenji
Wonder if Marvel is planning on doing a DC 52 sort of thing.

CBR News looks at Marvel Comics' monthly lineup as it enters 2012, examining why the cancelled titles were cut to what strategies will shape the future of the Marvel U.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=35600

I hope Ghost Rider comes back.

Bentley
I find most mainstream books utterly boring right now, that strategy doesn't seem appealing to me at all (what's the point of Marvel having more characters than DC is you're writting all the books for a selected few). Most Avengers books are mediocre -it pains me to say it- and I like Fantastic Four, but I find double shipping discouraging.

Kazenji
I still get all usual title from Marvel that i get, but also i've been getting some titles from Dark Horse, Dynamite Entertainment and now IDW.

-K-M-
Another solid issue and just a shame Marvel is letting this go.

Snowbird going toe to toe with Wendigo in her base form? Natch! What did Snowbird transform into to hit Ranark in the face with? Snow? She really has turned into a pretty damn powerful character.

I would like to see Walter - Sasqautch up again. It looked like there was a drawing of Tanaraq/Sasquatch on the cave wall to Ranark's lair. Sure he has a connection to all this, as he does serve the Beasts after all.

-K-M-
Bob Layton is not impressed

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/11/18/bob-layton-swears-off-marvel-forever-over-iron-man-forever/

Kazenji
Whats Iron Man Forever first i've heard of it.

Bentley
Nice story. Maybe this editorial mandates are what has made Marvel books suck a bit more for a while.

-K-M-
Down goes the All Ages comic?

Deadpool Max is also cancelled

One of my favorite artists is ending his run with Marvel:

Deadpool Max was'nt that good anyway, it had potential.

Moon Knight's cancelled now

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=36560

Bentley
I wish I wasn't too lazy to bring the Bendis hype that they were throwing back when Moon Knight was announced.

-K-M-
Alpha Flight wrapped up and such a shame this is ending. Another great solid issue, wish they covered the Sasquatch thing abit more. Ending seemed rushed, but still a lot better then most of Marvel books.
