Well, not really a traslation, but a definition of the word in this particular context.

Was doing some translation for work today and came across the following - meal: 1 whole chicken + 1 regular side + 2 large sides. What the hell does "side" mean in this case? Another piece of chicken? Thanks in advance, and mods please dont close this thread, I really need this for work.

Mac and Cheese or Mashed Potatoes are considered sides.

Side of potatoes. Side of rice? Side of beans?

Side, anything put on the side of the plate to compliment the chicken.

A side of chips, side of beans, a side of salsa even...

Most meals have a main dish and side dishes.

At thanksgiving the main dish is the turkey or ham (or sometimes both)
Then side dishes are mash, cranberries, green peas, dinner rolls... Etc.
