The Sound Of Battle

"Fate:Forsaken". They were a normal metal band, a group of friends and rivals, just starting to play in bigger concerts. It was in their biggest gig up till then that it happened. Was it the intense music? The bond of friendship between the band members? The roaring chants of the crowd? No matter what was the cause, it happened. The smoke generator that the band used in their entrances went haywire and the stage disappeared in darkness. When everything finally cleared up again, the band was gone. Neither they nor their instruments remained. All that was left on the stage was an unknown symbol that had been etched into it. And then, even the stage itself burned to ashes before anybody could take a closer look at the mysterious symbol on it. As Earth slowly began to forget what was thought about as an experiment to see if a band's early and dramatic disappearance could further sales, the band emerged in a different world.

This world, known as Tenac, could be seen as a medieval world if it weren't for one thing: here, good music kills stuff. Well, alright. Bad music does as well. Don't ask me why. It just works like that. Has for centuries, will for centuries. All the better for the band, who doesn't have much except their instruments. But they also have eachother. And while one of them alone might only be able to hold off a handful attackers, two can already wreak havoc upon an organized force. But that is, if they can get along. Some may get along wonderfully, others may hate eachother. Funny gameplay factor: everyone sends PM with someone they hate and someone they get along great to me before I put up the OOC. Do not discuss amongst eachother. I do not want relations to be spread equally among the band. However, since they support the band without taking personal opinion into account, bassist and roadies are exempt from having their abilities negated by being close to someone they can't get along with. Do not PM me the name of a roadie or my own. Note that there can be multiple people you dislike/like! However, only two are so (dis)likeable that your playing is affected. Send those two to me. Due to certain people (you know who you are) refusing to cooperate, this system has been abandoned.

Of course instruments don't make the same sounds and neither do they create the same effects in this strange world. Here follows a CS and a list of the roles:

CS:
(Place img here. I'd prefer anime. Instrument can but doesn't have to be included.)
Name/Stagename: (State both. Nicknames will be made by other players as it would happen in real life.)
Instrument: (Yes it comes second, that's how important it is. Please don't state any specifics, brand name etc. Just what you play.)
Gender: (No questions I hope.)
Age: (Between 16 and 22. This band is youg and so are it's members.)
BF/GF: (I am not homophobic and will kill anyone who is, so do not fear if you want to pursue a non-hetero relationship. ^^)
Bio: (Just a para or two, why did you join the band etc. And when I say one or two, I mean one is min and two is max. Giant bios are a pain.)

Roles:
Vocalist
One would assume that this profession is the easiest because everyone has a voice. But it is quite the opposite. As a vocalist you need incredible charisma. Your voice needs to twist the minds and souls of your enemies from the first to the last lyric. It needs to ring true to your allies and friends. Though they are also capable warriors, their voices breaking the enemy mentally and physically. Before anything else, a vocalist is a shining beacon for their army, leading those following them to victory with hymns that will often be accompanied by the chants of the crowd, increasing the effect.
Increases allied morale and decreases that of the enemy to the point where weaker troops will either switch sides or commit suicide, realizing they cannot stand against such power.

Guitarist
They are known for working alone more often than any other role. But this doesn't mean that they don't work well with the others. Commonly standing by the vocalist to follow them into the depth of frontline combat, guitarists tear apart the enemy with riffs and chords. Using the brute, overwhelming force of their guitars, they sunder flesh and shatter bone. But if you think that that is all that they can do, then you are sorely mistaken. When they have some free space and time in the heat of battle, guitarists will often take a moment to gather themselves before unleashing a solo, a piece of art that for it's duration is louder than any other noise, not permitting anyone to share with it this moment of glory.
Simply destroys the enemy. Should they remain standing at the end of an attack, the enemies are most probably stunned. Will easily overrun any position held by weaker troops, leaving behind a trail of chaos and obliteration.

Bassist
You do not notice the figure that calmly walks the battlefield until it's too late. They don't seem as threatening as the gods of war that storm through your lines with similar weapons, so you ignore them. But then you turn back to the flank that you left unwatched after a while and realize that it's gone. Next you will start to notice the tone hidden underneath all others. A deep sound, ominous and foreboding. Then you connect the two events and fear grips you. As the figure closes in on his louder friends, their chords seem even more devastating. Finally your brain connects all the loose end and calculates the outcome of this. Defeat, followed by death.
Amplifies other musical roles while steadily and subtly wearing down the enemy. Only rarely uses actual attack chords and almost never lets loose a solo on the enemy. But those few moments are filled with people being blown into bloody pieces and spattered across the battlefield.

Drummer
Having tamed a beast to carry them and their equipment, Drummers advance across the battlefield on it's back. Their attacks rumble throughout the fields of blood, shockwaves rushing out from them, pummeling all that stand in the way. But staying in a distance to escape the havoc wreaked by beast and rider isn't a solution either. For drummers have an uncanny ability. They focus the energy of their solid beat and send it into the sky. With a one final flourish of their drumsticks they then send it crashing down upon whoever believe themselves safe by staying away like a coward.
Responsible for damage on a wide area. Whether they are crushing all that is gathered around their mount or they are eliminating the little ants that scuttle about in the distance, it doesn't matter. Before the drums, all are equal, none are spared.

Keyboarder
The fingers move swiftly across the keys. Such elegance can only be that of the keyboarder as they play a piece to add to the music played all over. The effect even less noticeable than that of the Bassist at first, the melody played from behind the lines doesn't damage the enemy, not directly. But, unbeknownst to them, their strikes are weaker, their armour more brittle than before. The work of the keyboarder is the weakening of the enemy. Some may think this task unimportant but that opinion will rapidly change when they watch a horde of massive brutes turn into a bunch of harmless additions to target practice.
Debuffs are the region this role specialises in. Though also capable of attacking it's main personal combat weapon is the power to play until the opponent has been turned into an insult to any halfway decent warrior. This indirect form of combat is not to be underestimated, lest one wishes to be soundly defeated.

Name/Stagename: Law Lenard/Forsaken
Instrument: Bass
Gender: Male
Age: 19
BF/GF: None as of yet
Bio: Law and his brother founded the band. Combining their stage names, the two created "Fate:Forsaken" as a project that they could work on when they had the time. Soon word spread among their friends, questions were asked. The most common was if there was still for another member. After a time spent in reluctance to let anybody participate in something that they had planned to strengthen their brotherly bond, they finally allowed some of their friends to join in. It was then that the band started to bloom, a few gigs here and there made it popular in the neighbourhood. But nobody is perfect and Law's brother was frustrated to see some of the other members fighting amongst eachother. It caused him much pain that this band was less than perfect simply because the others could not get along.
It was then that, unnoticed by the others, the two brothers had their first major fight. Law tried to explain to his brother that they had to conquer the situation through patience. But that was something that was growing thin. Big plans were in motion. A first album, an actual concert. All that had been organised by Law's brother who now decided that it was time to throw away those that did not fit into the band. Fate:Forsaken would become a more personal band once more. But Law didn't want to hurt his friends. Finally they decided that it would be for the best if they split up. They would play one last concert together and that would be it. Neither of them felt that it was right to part ways in such a way, but both were stubborn, not wanting to back down.

Name/Stagename: Ally Swift/ Fallen

Instrument: Vocalist (plays the Guitar when needed)

Gender: Female

Age: 19

BF/GF: none

Bio: Ally is a sweet and fragile girl that loves rainbows and butterflies and peace and happiness but due to a traumatic experience when she was a child she developed a split personality. A complete opposite of Ally, Fallen she is cold to everyone and only likes to express anger. Fallen is the one usually the one on stage screaming, Ally would much rather sing happy songs about love and happiness but every time she brings it up in a band meeting she only gets weird looks. The band mates know about Ally's duel personalities and seem to be okay with it.

Extra: When Ally is in control her eyes are bright blue and full of life and when Fallen takes control her eyes become icy death and look as if at any moment she could freeze you where you stand.

Phoenix3068
http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k582/Phoenix3068/Guitar1.jpg

Name/Stagename: Light Hope/Lightning (Her friends only ever call her Lightning, same with her fans. Only her parents ever have called her by her real name.)
Instrument: Guitar, Electric (Secondary Singing )
Gender: Female
Age: 20 (Recently, lol)
BF/GF: None as of yet
~Extra: She is generally straight though rumors in the crowd question the opposite.
Biography: Lightning has a typical "Out-of-Control" attitude on stage, but at points she will flat-line and lose complete control. When she was young her big brother had always played the guitar, both for fun and for profit. One day, her brother had walked away from home with a destiny and left his guitar at Lightnings feet. The guitar was not all that he left her though, along with the words; "Strive for more, and when you get there, keep rising. There is never a limit to the greatness you can achieve." Those words stung in her mind even today as she plays. She met law when she was a bit younger, playing a guitar in the middle of town, drawing a crowd. Law was supposedly impressed by her aptitude for it, back then since she was a solo artist she would play while singing songs with her music by herself. Once she joined the band, she was curious as the bitterness between Law and his brother, taking an interest in the twos bickering. Though she had not often expressed it, she had a decisive affection toward his brother as she could be caught staring at him during gigs. While she had affection toward him, she never understood how he felt exactly which naturally resulted in him not noticing her as such.
Legendary Title: Lightning never shines brightest then when her solo point comes in the middle of a song. Her fingers will tend to move on their own and her eyes will shut tight as if closing herself off to everyone else around her and letting the chill of metals call embrace her. To some who claim to watch very carefully, it's said that they can see a dragon of lightning circling her and rising during her more intense solos. This very action is the reason she recieved the stage title: "Lightning, the Dragon of Metal"

Name/Stagename: Andy Bates/Requiem.
Instrument: Keyboard.
Gender: Male
Age: 22
BF/GF: Nada.
Bio: Andy "quickfingers" Bates was born the son of the local church organist in a poor backwater community. Despite his generous attitude towards the people, Andy's father was a terrible father and husband. He would drink, smoke, take illegal substances, and would get into terrible violent rages, often throwing bottles at Andy's mother. Andy learned how to play music by watching his father at church. He soon surpassed the man in skill, and his mother, fearing the jealousy and hatred that would follow, sent Andy away with some cash she had stolen from her husband.
Andy regretfully left, and soon made his name as a top keyboardist. He was spotted by Law, and after only one meeting, was instantly accepted into the band as its oldest member. Though he gets on well with most of the team, the drummer in particular, he does seem to be strangely hostile towards Ally Swift/Fallen. Fallen reminds him too much of his father - angry and vengeful, and Ally too much of his mother - frail and weak.

Phoenix3068
I have two questions about your character Mel (not because I don't like it but because to me it doesn't make sense, well the 1st, the second is actually a complaint).

1. A Church Organist and a Metal Band Keyboarder are quite different O_o How exactly does the whole "Church" background incorporate into him being in a Metal Band?
2. It says in it he's the oldest member of the band at age 22. Doesn't that kind of limit the ages of all participants to 21 and below then? I suppose if you want to change it if someone older joins then that's okay, just thought I might bring that up.

Aside from those two things I like it. Very nice.

MadMel
1. He's a prodigy if he only learned the keys by watching. If that's the case, he could easily apply what he learned to a keyboard, given enough time.

2. Characters can't be older than 22. That would make him close to the oldest member, even if every other character from now own is also 22. stick out tongue

XanatosForever
Should fix it to say "one of the oldest members". It's really not fair to lay claim to an age and restrict other players.

Guess that just leaves this band in need of a Drummer...hmm...

MadMel
Too late to change, but let's pretend I did anyway. stick out tongue

XanatosForever
PM a mod. I'm sure they'd love to waste their time on something as insignificant as editing an RP profile. haermm

Name/Stagename: Cody Mitchell/ Blitzkrieg
Instrument: Drums and some other percussion besides piano
Gender:Male
Age: 18
BF/GF: Drummer never gets the girl so as of now no
Bio: Cody was five at the time when he started learning his drumming technique from his father, who was a drummer who put his soul into every beat. His father practiced Reggae and Ska those techniques incorporated into Cody as he practiced he started developing the sense for Rock and Metal through time although the process was rigorous. As time went by started to slowly get famous he even started playing some of his fathers shows to this he was 15. When Cody was 16 his father grew very ill and went to the hospital he is now bedridden so Cody lives on through the drums continually practicing one day he met with a band for they needed a drummer as he played every beat with precision and focus he got accpeted and now plays with them hoping he can play not only as well as his dad but better than him.

XanatosForever
And now there's a full band. Awesome.

Hitosu Moriko
Rumor has it the reason why Cody has the name blitzkrieg is because his drumming has a second sound that sounds like the explosions of war

Ooooh.. *claps*

Bladewind
Forsaken
Fallen
Lightning
Requiem
Blitzkrieg

Alright. Here's my problem. Hitosu and the lady with the electricity fetish (Phoenix): See the above list and tell me which of these names don't quite fit in with the rest/band name.

Hitosu Moriko
-___- could have just said switch the names and I can't think of one at the moment

Phoenix3068
I detest lol

starryknight
the answer is always C!

Bladewind
@Hitosu: I dislike saying things directly. If this causes you trouble, I apologise.

@Phoenix: ... Come again?

@starry: Indeed it is. ^^

Hitosu Moriko
Blitzkrieg is basically a word for war

starryknight
Hit i think he was talking about lightning.

starryknight
Its the only one that isnt emo/tional.

Bladewind
@Hitosu: As starry said, my problem is that while the other names are emotional/poetic, yours and Phoenix' are not.

@starry: This band is not emo!

Matthias Fenris
ima have to agree with starry. only emo and screamo bands have members with names like that. you're pushing the drowning doom scene. the grave diggers, specifically. and while you may not want it to be, look at the char sheets, dude. O_o i rest starry's case. (bow chicka bow wow?)

and its not uncommon for band members name to not match up. actually, alot of bands with similar nicknames usually fail because they're trying too hard on the look and not enough on the music.

honestly, if i was in the band, my char prolly wouldnt have a nickname at all.

starryknight
ScreamO and metal are the same! Rock is where its at!

Matthias Fenris
what.. did i... just hear? screamo and metal are the same?

you cannot compare this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbZpPz4gqJ8

in anyway to this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgzFMPPH340
the difference, you see... is that the second one.. theres actual singing. and the first one, is filled with little boys wearing girls pants.. to say they are the same is a horrible insult to my religion.

XanatosForever
Blade...I have an idea for a character, but it's definitely going to need your approval. Is it alright if I PM you details?

MadMel
Is it a villain? stick out tongue

Starts with nunya...ends with bizness. stick out tongue

MadMel
Hmm. Reminds me of my friend Mr. Yu. First name - Fock. stick out tongue

laughing It is a necessary evil, though, with what I have in mind. I have to discuss backstory, instrument, even role in the band with him. I don't really expect it to be approved, but it'd be awesome if it was.

Go ahead. As I said before, I'm open to suggestions.

Fine switch his name to war and don't say war is not something emotional or poetic cause i will so prove that war has brought so much inspiration for poems and has caused a lot damage to people physically and emotionally

{still trying to keeps his name to the war setting)

Thanks for the heads up, Blade. I'll send a PM before I head out to bed. Whether or not you get it before the morning...XD

I'm just teasing you guys stick out tongue

@Hitosu: That's completely all right. The main reason I didn't want Blitzkrieg was because it is too provokative.

Well, apart from all this, does anybody have any questions before we start IC? I'd prefer it everybody could give confirmation that they're ready to go.

MadMel
I'm set, I guess.

i think ill sit this one out.. but im pretty sure im the most metal person in all of this forum, so ill lurk just in case anyone may need some metal advise. mmk?

Hitosu Moriko
START IT!!!! lol im ready ^___^

Bladewind
Sorry, but without two out of five players, I can't really start this RP.

Phoenix3068
I'm here too.. Just got back.. anyways, my characters name hints to her own insanity, while the name might not be as depressing as "Forsaken" it still has it's meaning.. Anyways, I'm ready so yeah..

I disappeared, I had something going on at the time. We can recycle the idea by recreating the band, possibly with fresh members. If nobody else wants to post a CS and join then we'll scrap it. If others join then we'll work on opening.

Name/Stagename: Kelevra/Synn
Instrument: Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
Gender: Male
Age: 25
BF/GF: None, as of this moment
Bio: Synn was raised in a small town in Kansas called Lawrence, where he grew up in a normal suburban family with a normal suburban life. Well... Somewhat normal. He took up the guitar at 14 to impress his then girlfriend, Alexia, and bought an old acoustic from one of his friends. He grew to enjoy playing so much that he quickly improved, and began playing songs for his friends when they had camping trips and other such parties. When he was 21, Alexia was killed in an automobile accident, at which point he began to smoke and drink regularly in an attempt to mask the pain. At 23, he came out of this dark point in his life when he began to play his music again, though something was different about it, now. When it had been upbeat, somewhat campy at first, everything he played now had a dark, twisted feel to it. He traded in his old acoustic at a local shop and paid the extra off on a new electric guitar and an amp. He started playing rhythm and a bit of lead with his new electric, the damages to his voice from years of abuse putting a distinctive rasp into his voice. His once clear vocals became gritty, and he began incorporating a sort of growl to his lyrics that led him to write many newer, darker songs than ever before. He has since quit binge drinking or chain smoking, though he still enjoys a night of drinking once in a while, and is rarely seen without a pack of cigarettes in his pocket.

As Earth slowly began to forget what was thought about as an experiment to see if a band's early and dramatic disappearance could further sales, the band emerged in a different world.

That was the story anyways... But something changed overtime, something that nobody expected. They failed. The band had gone up against the greatest force that could be mustered against them and in the end, they were overwhelmed. Though most of them escaped unharmed, the booming force that had brought them together had fallen. The allies rallied around him to try and bring him back, back to the world of humans in a last ditch effort to escape Tenac's vicious enemies. But it was too late - and they were surrounded. Pulled away from their leader, the band could not keep itself together and eventually fell apart. Well... Save for one ambitious fool-hearted girl...

This world, known as Tenac, could be seen as a medieval world if it weren't for one thing: here, good music kills stuff. Well, alright. Bad music does as well. Don't ask me why. It just works like that. Has for centuries, will for centuries.
After the first wave failure, those that survived returned to Earth, leaving a single door way back to Tenac to be used only once more - on the return trip back to Tenac. However, the only ones who know of this door way are the surviving band members. This hole is hidden away inside of Fate:Forsaken's "Garage", which is now watched over and maintained by Lightning.

This band is youg and so are it's members.) (BROKEN! Feel free to be any age.)
BF/GF: (I am not homophobic and will kill anyone who is, so do not fear if you want to pursue a non-hetero relationship. ^^)
Bio: (Just a para or two, why did you join the band etc. And when I say one or two, I mean one is min and two is max. Giant bios are a pain.) (Two Para limit is fine, but now the bio should be more what leads you to the band)

Roles:
!NEW! Background Vocals boost the intensity of the music, raising its power much like a 'Buff'.

!NEW! Backup Guitar does not deal the damage of the Lead Guitarist, but rather applies Stun. No Solos.

Debuffs are the region this role specializes in. Though also capable of attacking it's main personal combat weapon is the power to play until the opponent has been turned into an insult to any halfway decent warrior. This indirect form of combat is not to be underestimated, lest one wishes to be soundly defeated.
