I'm surprised there is no thread honoring this martyr of freedom.
The man was one of the greatest people to have ever lived, imo.
Whoever thought that a simple watermelon vendor would be the catalyst of the Arab Spring.
Heck, this guy inspired more people to revolt than Che Guevarra.

I was about to ask 'Who?' but then I saw 'watermelon' and understood perfectly.

I have no idea who Bouazizi or Guevarra are.
I hate names.
Wait, is the Guevarra dude that South American guy that everyone where's shirts of but have no idea what he actually did for "freedom"?
Edt - I know who this main thread topic guy is, now.
I really hate to admire people for killing themselves in stupid ways. And just think of how many people died because he killed himself? Just think of all the change that didn't happen despite the loss of all those lives?
What change did happen other than a politicians stepping down?

Well, it's a start.
Revolutions pave way to change.
Someone had to do it.
What chances does a watermelon vendor have against a tyrannical dictator who's been controlling the state since God-nows-when?
He had no other means. It was a means to an end.
His self-immolation represented the people's desire for freedom. That they would go to great lengths, even as far as to kill themselves, just so others could have a slice of that freedom.
