Zeal Ex Nihilo
By a certain ethnic group. Let's call them the Dutch.
This Dutch man hates Tebow. Why? As with the hatred Tebow elicits from feminists, I suspect it is partly from envy. Tebow, a masculine, handsome, athletic man--the boy that feminists longed for in high school, the boy that the author wished he could be. And if Tebow were irreligious there would be no problem, but it is the faith that he espouses that is dangerous. To the feminist and this Dutch man, Tebow represents a positive Christian role model, someone who might influence others to act like Tebow. And how does Tebow act? Very, very...Christian. In fact, he claims he's still a virgin and he's "waiting for marriage."
The Dutch, of course, don't like this. They want "sex positive" thinking, they want pornography, they want kids to experiment sexually. Why? Twofold. The greater reason is cultural Marxism (the destruction of Western values paving the way for Marxist ideology), but that is a much larger discussion. The lesser (and more immediate) reason is that destroying the values of sexual restraint that Christianity demands fights the progressive agenda. Christian society is a partriarchal society, one of strong men and submissive women, one that extols the family unit and strength through faith. That's not on the progressive agenda, which wants men and women to be identical cogs within the state's machinery.
Here is the meat of the argument: if Tebow is victorious, then the conservatives will believe it a sign from God. If they see this sign from God, they will gather in force and take back the electorate. If they take back the electorate, they will uproot our (decadent) society. And if this dread thing should pass?
My God. Apocalyptic visions pass before my eyes.
The hyperbole ends, and the Dutch man's true fears are spoken: the Christians might spread their faith and the Dutch might convert. Throwing off the shackles of the Dutch religion, they may embrace the Messiah who has come to bring them salvation, and then they too might envision a world apart from the progressive sexual dystopia.
Truly, a victimized people.
The men of certainty? Those unwilling to be swayed to the cause of the Dutch's histrionics, to his wringing of hands over a resurgence of the KKK and witch burnings. Sometimes I wonder how Christians would react to the Dutch if they knew just how much the Dutch loathe them.
