There was a bit more to it than that though.

To Mon-el arresting him. You know more context to it. I doubt that he would have taken him without interference from his teammates. He was basically an augmented or Super Daxamite. Although Mon-el did appear to be holding his own for a bit.

Pre-Crisis version of inertron?

Why does that demean inertron, instead of telling just how powerful daxamites are currently?

Could be, I suppose. It's just hard to imagine current Daxamites being stronger than pre-crisis Validus. Well, by all accounts, the inertron being able to restrain Validus and being the strongest material in the Universe are still in play - since the page actually states it. The difference is that now Daxamites (well, amped ones), who are boasted to be the physically strongest beings in the 31st century Universe are strong enough to break it with effort. All of this being written by the guy who contributed to a lot of pre-Crisis history - Paul Levitz.

It speaks more to their power than to inertron's weakness, imo.

Why Pre Crisis Validus? Should Inertron somehow have escaped the effects of Crisis?

Inertron can still have held Validus, and still therefore be impressive, without necessitating this Pre Crisis nonsense. It would still, therefore, hold the same 'place' in the universe, even if power levels were scaled down (ie, Validus was still stronger than pretty much anyone, it's just that the metric went down; being stronger than Superboy doesn't mean you're stronger than someone who can snuff out stars with sneezes, it means you're stronger than someone who can maybe move a moon).

And anyway, they seemed to stress significantly that this Renegade was more powerful than Mon El, having been amped. That's why Mon El couldn't take him down, why they needed teamwork to do it.

^ I think you missed what I was getting at. Pre-crisis Validus is who I was referring to originally. If inertron was capable of containing him, then current Daxamites would have to be a good deal stronger than him to crumble it like Renegade did... And that is something I cannot agree with. But like I mentioned above: I certainly believe it's possible that current Daxamites are stronger than post-crisis Val. /shrug

Imo Mon-El and renegade seemed to be equals during their melee. The only 'help' Mon-El received before KO'ing Renegade was a cover of darkness. Regardless of your views, they were at least near the same level.
