So you can't eat a fetus, perfectly understandable. But you can use human foreskin in cosmetics...

Those are companies that use aborted fetal cells in the processing and testing of their products. I actually made a thread about it in the past. But of course, it was made into a huge joke, just like this thread is becoming...

I didn't think it was a joke. Look, lots of the people that post here are bored and cynical. That's not a good combination because we start making fairly low-brow jokes.

The big joke here is that none of the people involved seem to have heard about any of the companies using stem cells in product testing.

including the FDA it seems...

EDIT: does anyone have a link about this stuff that isn't from a news organization dedicated to anti-abortion issues?

The company in question is Semonyx. They have a number of published papers you could try to track down:
http://www.senomyx.com/flavor_programs/SciPub.htm

They also have this patent (which includes the actual sequence of bases they're patenting)
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=7,297,543.PN.&OS=PN/7,297,543&RS=PN/7,297,543

It mentions HEK-23, which is a very old line of embryonic stem cells. The claim that "they get cells from abortion clinics" appears to be complete nonsense. Their scientists are specifically trying to patent a cell line because it acts the way they want.

This is the kind seems like it should be a moral conundrum for people opposing the research on the basis that stems cells are babies, if anything Senomyx is ensuring their immortality. Ending the research means killing babies.

I am not being a smartass. It seems rather logical that stem cells will/can be used to create biological immortality. Full control over stem cells coupled with a mature nanorobotic technology will realize this for us.

The baby was already aborted, meaning it was already killed. Ending the research does not mean "killing babies", it would serve justice to the over 52 million (and counting) unborn children aborted since Roe v. Wade.

The fact that they're using it in food processing and testing is a disgrace (and sickening, to boot).

I figure that since those children are already dead and aborted, the parents should get to donate their children to science to save lives.

Think about it: if our stem cell research allows us to create biological immortality, it will save all lives. All. Of. Them. How is that not a good use of the "fallen"? The parents are going to abort the babies, anyway.

Surely you, even as a Christian, can see why it would be a waste to just turn them into worm food. If God doesn't want us to become immortal, He can come down here and stop it. He hasn't stopped abortions so I don't see it happening anytime soon. And, no, I'm not an atheist like it might seem. I just see all of that aborted tissue as very useful.

The same "parents" that allowed some doctor to snip the life out of their child in the womb? Does Casey Anthony get to choose what her daughter's body is used for?

Biological immortality? Why? What are you afraid of, that you have to live forever? Are you afraid that you might have to be accountable for what went on here on earth?

God will have His day of judgment and wrath. You can count on that. He's allowing it for now (we have free will, of course) It says in the Bible:

I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. (Isaiah 66:4)

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12)

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:13)

Yes, those parents. No, Casey Anthony doesn't get to choose because her daughter was rotted a bit and her daughter was not an embryo.

I should also remind you that Casey Anthony was found innocent by a jury of her peers. Don't forget about this important teaching: judge not.

I am accountable for what went on here on earth. So are you. Living forever as a biological entity, if God allows it, will not change that. So why not live forever? If God doesn't want it to happen, He'll stop it. smile I asked God and He didn't answer, so I'm quite sure it is okay if we humans fulfill the absolute most altruistic thing ever done in the history of humanity (baring the Atonement, of course): curing death.

I don't believe in the wrathful vengeful, petty, immature God. Any time I see the word "wrath" when it concerns God, I only assume it means God is withdrawing his helpful counceling (like, "Don't go into that building: you'll step on a nail and get tetnus" or "You should help that man stranded on the highway because his car will cause the death of a family if he doesn't get moving"wink.

You have nothing to fear because I asked God. He ain't even mad about the immortality thing. He even wants us all to obtain it.

So God is committing evil by forcing his children to become delusional...which causes them not to be able to see the righteous path and be "damned" because of it? What an immature, petty, prick. Don't you think? Surely you don't interpret that at a direct reading? If you do, the God you believe in is just as bad as some of the worst Greek Gods.

In this information age, it is becoming more difficult to be deceived. I love the information age. It's like...the exact opposite of what that scripture portrays. Me thinks that scripture was not a reference to the information age but a reference to something far more contemporary. What do you think?

So, again, why let the embryos, which have already been aborted, be used for something righteous? Is it not the greater sin to waste those embryos and NOT save lives with them?

What? If I'm reading that right God used his infinite power to force people to believe something and then sent them to hell for believing it.

First off, we have a free will. God gave that to us. We can believe whatever we want. God gave us that gift. However, there is a right path and a wrong path.

God sends the strong delusion to TEST YOU. Jesus said many times to His disciples to BE NOT DECEIVED.

It says in the Bible that many will be deceived, and many will not find salvation.

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

Why does God need to test people?

Is he just bored?

I've never understood the whole salvation-damnation game. Like, for God, what's the point?

I personally think Batdude has it backwards. God isn't testing us (directly), we are testing ourselves. This is a conversation for another thread, though.

Don't be deceived by God?

Sigh...

God is not "mind controlling" anyone. God shall send them strong delusion, meaning He will give them over to their own devices. There is another passage in Scripture that states the following:

"Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron" (1 Timothy 4:2)

This means that after a while of rejecting truth, you stop having any sort of conviction inside you. If you're out murdering constantly, would you have any sort of conviction for taking a life? No. Your conscience is seared with a hot iron. It wouldn't faze you anymore. You've been given over to your own devices.

Sigh...

No, not deceived by God, deceived by Satan and his antichrist. God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33), but Satan can't do anything without God's permission.

God is balanced. He is a God of love, but He is also a God of judgment.

I will personally leave it at that for this thread. If anyone wants to reply, send me a pm or I'll start a new thread.

RE: Blaxican
That's a contradiction. You state in the beginning that "God sends them strong delusion", and then end your statement with "Not deceived by God, deceived by Satan".

You just said that it was God who sends strong delusion. How then can he not be responsible for confusing people? erm

Furthermore, your "sighs" are pretty damn condescending, considering you're the one who introduced the biblical crap into this thread to begin with. You shouldn't really start discussions if you don't want to end them.

It's attitudes like that that pushed me out of the Christian circuit.

Does cannibalism really give you the shakes, or is that fiction? If it does, and people are regularly eating portions of baby fetuses, wouldn't more people have these symptoms?

Kuru (disease)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kuru is an incurable degenerative neurological disorder that is a type of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy, caused by a prion found in humans. The term "kuru" derives from the Fore word "kuria/guria" ("to shake"wink, a reference to the body tremors that are a classic symptom of the disease; it is also known among the Fore as the laughing sickness due to the pathologic bursts of laughter people would display when afflicted with the disease. It is now widely accepted that Kuru was transmitted among members of the Fore tribe of Papua New Guinea via cannibalism.
