Hi, I am feeling really sad and lonely right now. It's been another difficult day where I sometimes feel no one cares. My father and I fight so much, and I try and try to get out of his shadow. I am like him in different ways. He might be lonely too. I don't know because he doesn't talk openly about these things with me. I feel frustrated all the time and have no real outlet to release this inner aggression. Is there anyone around who can help me? Signed Sad and Lonely Master Skywalker All replies are accepted. I have a sister. I have always felt I wasn't anywhere as good as her. She got good grades at school, while I succumbed to a serious illness that has pursued me for a long time. As for my father, I don't want to become like him because he and my mother are divorced. They argue a lot and fight over finances. I am for the record, 26, as some of you know. I have never had a girlfriend and am tired of being alone as my friends have all ended up married and with children.Because of the nature of my illness, I have difficulties dealing with social situations.

I hear that,my parents are divorced and I'm getting systoms of acting and looking like my father(I'm 5'4 the same height as him and I'm 18)But to me I have a responsiblity to prove to everyone that it's going to stop me from living my life happly.Me iI don't see it as road block I see these things in my life as a detour,I'm the master of my Life,And only I can change my life for the better but I know all to well of how hard it is to talk and open to parents I have a lot of sories to tell of them but I keep them down below where not many have seen..

Yeah I'm telling you my father comes here for a few months and back to Costa Rica and now I thinks he's there for good,the only sad thing I never open up to him,but me I sometimes consider myself a loser time and time again but if you really open your eyes and look at people you envy or you think has a better life than you you find a lot of fauls in them that what makes me hear and also I have a responsible mother that I try to make happy

I have never been able to really open up to my father. If I do, then the very next day we start fighting and throwing things up in each other's faces.Then I feel like I failed him.

I just think from time to time my father scared to open up to me it might look like an episode of 7th heaven to him.But hope I'll tell him before it's to late.

oh that's all right, I think sometimes I have to talk to somebody about all these pent-up emotions. It helps to talk with another person who understands.

True It's hard to talk to my friends all have both parents intact and I don't want them listening to my problems and burden them to listen..

Yeah, my friends' parents are mostly intact as well. So what would they know about it?

My friend last year wanted me to go to a barbeque last year they were having a family gathering,I went but it was weird at first but it was diffarant that both sides of he's family was their,the only family gathering I go to is my mother sides I have not yet met anybody from my father side expect for one aunt and my grandmother(who I only saw 4 times)in my life.

I am more familiar with my mother's side of the family, because most of my father's side don't live around here. I sometimes go to family/holiday gatherings like Thanksgiving or Christmas, but it always feels weird being there. Plus some of the relatives are a bit odd....

I don't know what it is like, because 1) I'm younger than you guys at 15 and 2) my parents aren't divorced. Sounds like it sucks though. Depends on the parents though. Just don't let it ruin your life, even if that is their evil intent (though it is probably not).

eveyone has there faults and problems, most of which are experienced in the teen years of their lives.
I myself have had many drawback and I too have my faults and pitfalls.
If you carry on thinking the way you are then the way you feel with persever.
think of it like this:

every experience you have had and are yet to experience, whether it be good or bad has an influence on you, these experiences make you who you are. dont fear them becuase you will withdraw into yourself. prepare yourself for the best and worst senario and at the same time dont expect anything, this way you wont be disapointed or over whelmed.
make the most of what you have, and take advantage of the things offered to you. dont take anything for granted.
treat others how you would like to be treated in return. dont take ppl on face value, if it appears fair, be careful underneath it can be quite foul and visa versa.
heed good advice and rest well.

I get mad at both my parents a lot. I live in the same house I grew up in, and even though my parents spend half their time someplace else, I start to feel boxed in when they are here. And I don't get that much privacy either.

Yes, things are looking brighter this morning! I made peace with my folks, my father got his car back out of the shop, and I am feeling pretty good right now! Thanks for your support, both of you!

Its important to take on life one day at a time, a cliche I know, but very truthful.

As for your illness, they do have medications that can help with social anxiety, you could always talk to a shrink about your emotional issues.
I started seeing one last week, very helpful.
If you have medical insurance, they will cover the charges.

Or you can just always come and talk with us here, we all have problems, and it helps to get stuff off your chest, even to total semi-strangers

Nope. Never had the chance or the time. The irony is my sister got to drive ages ago. I was quite ill for a number of years where learning things like driving and socialising held very little interest for me.

Yeah I got to get my lazy butt off and get my licence but I walk everywhere and not too good to take the bus.

I wouldn't mind walking everywhere if the weather was better and if there weren't so many local 'goons' around here. I feel like I should carry a wooden bat just to defend myself sometimes! Lost my protege to some of these guys.

Yes they do. Although I am feeling better, there's always a chance somebody else is feeling down and out. I think it's more of having friends and pals to help one on his way that is important.

I had a sister but never see her anymore. She married some guy from church and moved away to start a family. I got a niece now, but have never seen her. She was born after they moved away.

I never was much of a family man. To this day, attending family/holiday events is something of a nightmare. All it takes is for one of my older cousins to irritate my aunt, or one of their husbands to start arguing with them, and holy war is declared. It's really no suprise to me that my younger cousins stay away from the older people as much as they can.

Well I hate my sibling but thats how it goes with a big family like mines.I'm an Uncle to 6 kids.Now that's crazy.

I don't even feel like an uncle, as I've never even laid eyes on my niece.

Anyway, life is always a *****...! I'm pretty sure I aint gonna be able to live up to my parents expectations and trust me being an Asian Oriental is DAMN HARD. I'm putting most of my effort these days in helping my little sister do her best, making her life as easy as poss so she can achive what she wants. That way, at least I know I have done something good in my life even though I've failed practually everything I've tried.

Personally I think you should go do something that will make you happy or so. You shouldn't really care too much about the unimportant things, from the looks of things the problem is more a family thing.

Family and friend issues are always difficult to deal with. Most of my old pals moved away, or got married, so it's hard getting to see them on a semi-regular basis. Like this one guy said he'd be over yesterday, but cancelled the last minute. Then he asked me if it was convenient for him to come tomorrow after work. (I should point out this guy is not married but did recently move further into town)What was I supposed to say? We will see if he shows up tomorrow afternoon though.

Yeah all my friends are starting to go to colleges far away from me.But hope to keep in touch with them.

I am hoping my pal Nick will still be coming over tomorrow afternoon. He said he would come by after he got off work.

Yeah I now how it feels to have plans for a whole day of fun but then end up home doing nothing.I had plan to go to the movies and the mall last week and end up staying home doing nothing it sucks.

But with my sister-thank God she was the only sibling I had. She was pigheaded, strong-willed and stubborn. And she was very domineering when it came to my friends coming over to see me. I am glad she's in Wisconsin-that's all I can say.

Yeah siblings are annoying sometimes having brothers bother me and sisters that rip each other hair off because somone stole someone eles brush is crazing.

At the very least she could have been more of a giver than a taker. She treated me and my friends with little respect.

Without wishing to sound dis-respectful Gordon, have you discussed this with her,maybe she feels you have not tried hard enough either, respect needs to be earned and if she is thinking similar things about you bein more of a taker, then maybe a firendly discussion over what you both feel and how you might improve the relationship could help all involved.

sometimes i wish i had siblings and other times i don't wish to have one.

Yeah I do the same thing but even though they drive me crazy all the time they will always have my back and take care of me when I fall down.

I got a couple of guys here I feel that way about. They're more like brothers to me than friends. I got to see them both this weekend already. So that was cool.
