Sounds good to me, cuz I thought the CGI was a bit overdone in the first one.

I duuno...Nolan had minimal CGI for Batman & that turned out mediocre for me.

How's the God Of Thunder supposed to stand out amongst mortal men without CGI?

Kazenji
I think what Alan Taylor means by 'ditching the CGI' he's talking about the CGI looking worlds that they walked around in with the first movie.

Ridley_Prime
But the visuals of Asgard was one of the best things about the first movie, even if it was CGI. Why take away a good thing?

There's a rumour that this sequel will introduce Dr Strange

like how the first Thor functioned as a way to introduce Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye before his big Avengers debut.

Mr. Rhythmic
Captain America is my favorite superhero, but this is currently my most anticipated of the Stage Two films. The Malekith mask is a bit different (maybe CGI-covered in the film?), but it could work well in the film's favor. This whole storyline is great for film adaption. The more medieval tone might really work in the film's favor, because it introduces more, less-Norse worlds.

I don't know if they really are masks, or just something to use as reference for CG artists to work with later. I think the latter.

Since the first film was shot on soundstages in California and on location in New Mexico, doing the sequel over in England with more lush forest available gives you more opportunity to shoot outside for a magical feel.

Well that's a shame. Like her as an actress, though I guess to be fair, her character didn't have that much a role in the first Thor to begin with.

I heard about this. Doctor Stange in the Avengers would be perfect! I'm hoping this rumor is true.

Thor is my most anticipated of the phase two films. The first one was my favorite of the phase one films (except for Avengers of course) and Thor is my favorite Avenger, rivaled only by Doctor Stange. Having both of them in the same movie would be great for me, but I'm still disappointed that Strange isn't getting his own movie.

Heres a plot synopsis:
The whole 'enemy that predates the universe itself' and 'enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome' sounds like the perfect enemy to bring in Doctor Strange to for.

As for the 'ultimate sacrifice' part, I'm thinking Foster or Odin are going to die.

Also, rumor has it that they got Viggo Mortensen as Stange. The guys an excellent actor, and he definitely looks the part.

Seems to lack the visual impact the 1st movie had. Especially in the scenes on Asgard. Maybe the more striking stuff is being kept for the big screen but I remember the impact seeing the shots of them horseriding across the bifrost had. They were properly spectacular. Maybe a different director isn't doing this sequel any favours.

Kazenji
Well i know it is being directed by someone who's done some of Game Of Thrones, So yeah there's that with it looking a bit more real and grounded.

lol it's just a trailer. How the frack much can i possibly observe from that? Well, sometimes a trailer can make or break a film. It either gives away to much, which EVERY movie does these days. All i see here is formula...,playing it safe by the numbers. Thats cool, if it does that well then i'll be pleased with that but there will always be another part of me and you that asks why are we pleased with that? The thing that drew me to comics as a child was the freedom and wonder to push the Envelope. I haven't seen the movie, yet so don't piss on my face until i give you a legitimate review and not just an analysis of something that was made from the factory. roll eyes (sarcastic)

All I want in this film is Thor doing some amazing stuff that gives him the right to claim the title.

I want something along the lines of Odin saying.
"Son I've watched you grow throughout the past days, you have exceeded my expectations. I will imbue Mjolnir with more power, your feats will grow as your does your nobility."

I want him to evoke the hero fans deserve to have represented on screen.

So what you're saying, is that the movie can be complete ass, but so long as Thor gets some feats that would finally allow him to beat 2005 Hulk in the movie vs. you're feelin good?

No that's an assholes way of seeing what I stated as happening in this film.

What I want is a SkyFather figure giving his son somewhat to equal, the level of power Thor has acheived throughout the years in the comic.
And through other mediums.
It would be spectacular. The further Marvel pushes the powerlevels of characters in their mythos, the further the rest move ahead to keep up.

Is that the only way you perceive these films?

I grew up with these characters as a kid. I wish Thor would represent more of the 60's iconic character I grew up with.....actually it would be better than the movies I've seen.

Imagine Leonardo Dicaprio playing Donald Blake being the vessel for Thor returning to Earth. The doctor that Jane (Natalie Portman) had a relationship in the earlier film. And a love triangle eventuating between the two?

It would be Hollywood gold! Thor fighting new threats is all good, but we as viewers need more than that to take our attention.

Imagine Leo smacking his cane on the ground and becoming Thor. It would rock!

All us Thor fans only want Thor to properly display his power so that people who are not familiar with Thor won't say such stupid crap as:

1. Thor has no power without his hammer
2. Thor can control lightning and that's it (and he can't do it without mjolnir)
3. Thor is a slugger and has not shown that he is a trained h2h fighter
4. Energy absorption you say? Teleportation? Nonsense. Thor has none of those powers.

Depends on how it's used. One of those things that can be good when used in small or moderate amounts, but makes a movie superficial when used too much.

1) A lot of those misconceptions are in comics as well because often times its hard to distinguish Thor between him and his hammer as they are a classic pairing and a part of the character's well character.

2) In the Thor film Thor is shown creating a Tornado

3) In the Thor movie Thor was shown to be a very able H2H fighter, even in the Avengers when he went against Hulk he was shown to be skilled.

4) Thor is one of those character's that in the comics has such a wide range of powers you got to be careful about introducing too many of them in the movie version otherwise the character can become too overpowered and hard to write and maintain within a story. He already flirted with being so OP in Thor and even almost in the Avengers if not for his scuffle with Hulk showing that yes someone could potentially beat him in a fight. Even then most people agree that Thor can beat Hulk using all of his powers. So the more powers you give Thor either he becomes too OP or they have to write down his other abilities to even it out.

I'm going to a cineworld unlimited card holders 'secret' showing of an unnamed film on the 17th and have a feeling it's going to be this. They are putting up clues on their Facebook and Twitter in the run up to it and today's was 'the stars are looking for assistance. Will you be the brave volunteer? This job is too big for just one man'.

Quite vague. Thought it might be After Earth but it's apparently something that isn't due to be released for a while yet which rules out that and Man of Steel. Could also be Gravity. It's also rated 12A which rules out kids films.

If it's After Earth, just walk out and save yourself from wasting 100 minutes of your time. But I doubt it's that, since After Earth is geared towards kids.

Thor or Gravity, lucky and am a bit jealous.

jaden101
There was rumours it was to be the next Hobbit movie but that's not due out for ages. It won't be After Earth cos that's out this week and it says it's a showing ahead of the main release. The rating rules out Despicable Me 2. My hopes are that it's World War Z, Thor 2 or Gravity. Can't see it being anything as far ahead as Elysium, The wolverine or World's end but they'd also be welcome. I'll be sure to review it anyway.

I thought I offered to email you the eBook version? It's a fast read, you could do it in a few sittings.

No, book zombies are classic slow shamblers with only the most basic instinct to feed. They don't do parkoor, flip over buses of form zombie ladders.

IMO, in the film they might be more similar to infected human like in 28 Days Later than classic zombies. There's a preview that tells us Brad Pitt's character is trying to get to ground zero of the infection, so the government can stop it. Just a guess though.

Cool, but, eh... I think I won't watch. Probably will see the movie and will likely enjoy it more as a result. I remember the trailers for The Avengers ruined the best parts.

The ending was ****in great. The rest though didn't really impress me.

BruceSkywalker
great trailer from beginning to end.. can't wait

Really looking forward to this; looks great. I was a big fan of the first movie, so this should be nice.

I like the tone of the film. Looking forward to more hammer time.

That was awesome.

Anyway, despite my misgivings of the trailer I have no doubt that this will be a good film. Certainly looks far more epic than the original film.

Zack Fair
Better be the epicness I expected from the 1st and then some!

If we stay away from long visits on Earth, it probably will.

Think your mixing Thor up with the flaws of the Green Lantern movie.

Thor was exciting on Earth, because to him Earth is the strange place to him.

I just hope this will be a worthy sequel, and not an Iron Man 2 type thing. So far it looks like it could be pretty epic. Just allying himself with Loki has got me all excited.

Zack Fair
Maybe not Thor being on earth, but Thor being powerless on earth.
I agree that part of the movie was mehish. He spent too much time like that.

wakkawakkawakka
Am I the only one disappointed by the lack of lightning and flight? I mean I always though Thor using his lighting power looked cool but its rarely used.

Hope the movie doesn't disappoint despite my personal gripe about no having much zappity-zap going on in Thor.

Kazenji
You really expect a trailer to give away everything this early

rly??

Well it's not like trailers haven't done it before.

Was hoping it would work in my favor this time.

Kazenji
I'm sure they will eventually

i won't be watching them.

Yeah Marvel and DC like to show too much in their trailers.

Starting from next year.
I've decided to watch zero trailers for upcoming films.

A wise policy. They're a nest of spoilers that can be pieced together easily enough.

And almost always raise expectations beyond what the film actually is.

The best example I can give is Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer.

In the teaser trailer we see this awesome action sequence where the Torch is chasing the Surfer and the Surfer is phasing through stuff looking awesome, and I was thinking, "Wow this movie will be something else."

As we all know that was the best scene in the film was was a terrible film.

Of course Thor won't be anything like that, but it's just so much more enjoyable without big spoiler scenes.

This definitely sounds interesting. Too bad there aren't any condoms in Asgard. stick out tongue

I also heard that the Dark Elves ruled the Universe before the Big Bang but were defeated by Asgard and are now seeking revenge.

Well, it is a world where Shakespearean actors can summon lightning, defy the laws of physics, etc.

Gwizdo87
