Which film was the best one or will be the best one in your opinion (if it hasn't been released)?

I'm thinking Les Miserables...

-Pr-
Dark Knight Rises or Avengers.

Mindset
Avengers.

Zero Dark Thirty and Django look good.

Robtard
That I've seen, these stood out the most:

Coriolanus (Drama)
Chronicle (Sci-Fi)
Goon (Comedy)
Cabin In The Woods (Horror-Comedy)
Avengers (Action)

I'm expecting The Hobbit (P1) to blow them all away.

BlackZero30x
Imo Its The Avengers.

Speaking outwards of my own opinion...well I agree with Robtard. The Hobbit will be the best.

Mindset
Hobbit won't be the best, you phucking nerds.

I liked the Bourne Legacy a hell of a lot.

Obviously the answer is Dredd, giving Karl Urban the best movie of the year every year since 2002. Don't believe:

2002: Ghost Ship
2003: Lord of the Rings
2004: Chronicles of Riddick
2005: Doom
2006: Out of the Blue
2007: Path Finder
2008: Comanche Moon
2009: Star Trek
2010: RED
2011: Priest
2012: Dredd

It's a little early for 2013, but lets be honest, what are the chances of a better movie than Riddick coming out?

-Pr-
The second Hobbit movie.

Bourne Supremacy > CoR though

My top 5:

1.The Dark Knight Rises
2.The Avengers
3.Prometheus
4.Flight
5.Skyfall

Tzeentch._
The Avengers

I also really liked Seven Pyschopaths.

Worst that I've seen is a tie between TDKR and Promethius.

BackFire
Moonrise Kingdom for me.

Top 5 would have to be...

Dark Knight Rises
Avengers
Prometheus
Skyfall
Bourne Supremacy

Good choice. I haven't seen Goon but yeah the others you mentioned especially Avengers, Cabin & Corilanus left a lasting impact on my imagination.

I'm still in 2 minds about The Hobbit....another movie based on a journey...I think the theme's worn a bit thin after the previous 3.

The Hobbit!

Such a long awaited film and can't wait to see it at Christmas when I go home!!

In the meantime i've been watching videos of interviews with the cast and this is the best!

It's on The Guardian Youtube Channel and its called

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - an exclusive interview with the cast

It's really good!

omgchos
For me the best out of nowhere film was most definitely cabin in the woods. I went into that knowing nothing about it besides that Joss Whedon directed it. I really didnt wanna see it all that bad. Very surprising and intriguing at the same time.

maham
the Hunger Games was pretty good too but don't think I'll consider it the best. Still have to watch the Dark Knight Rises.

Might want to do some research Whedon had nothing to do with directing it.

-kV-
Avengers, Looper, and Cloud Atlas are my top three.

Btw, I also saw these movies:

* The Dark Knight Rises
* Skyfall
* Act of Valor
* Abrahman Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
* Prometheus
* The Hunger Games
* Ted

Skyfall and TDKR were both good, but I didn't feel the "wow" factor that I got after watching Casino Royale or Dark Knight/Inception. Act of Valor had phenomenal, realistic action. Vampire Hunter was ridiculous, but the action was entertaining.

Prometheus = entire film is a plot hole
Hunger Games = overrated
Ted = kinda funny

I want to see Argo, Lincoln, and Zero Dark Thirty!

EDIT: And the Hobbit. I can't wait to see it on Wednesday!

Mindset
Argo was good.

-kV-
Zero Dark Thirty has near perfect scores in RT and Metacritic; I hope it's as good as they say when I go watch it. I didn't find Hurt Locker that spectacular...

BlackZero30x
I get the feeling a lot of the reviews for Zero Dark is purely because of what its based on.

Mindset
When did you start hating freedom?

BlackZero30x
ever since it elected George Bush twice.....

-kV-
I agree it is probably getting some love due to its material, but at the same time, the film has received Best Film awards/nominations for being an intense procedural that still thrills despite everyone knowing what happens at the end. I guess I'll see how true that is when I go see it.

I remember reading the reviews for that one they gave lots of praise for the realistic action and tactics shown from the real life soldiers, Cept the soldier's acting weren't that great.

It was between that, Hobbit and Avengers.

I enjoyed it more than any other movie I saw this year. shrug

-kV-
I haven't seen Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln, or Zero Dark Thirty yet, and I know some, if not all, of those films are Best Film contenders.

I thought Looper and Cloud Atlas were really good. I had the most fun watching Avengers and Hobbit.

zeel
Saw dark knight it was ok, i loved the avengers myself. As far as the hobbit went. it was ok but it reminded me of a kevin kostner movie. lllllllooonnnnggggggg and drawn out. I would have to say i liked the avengers best.

the ninjak
Avengers easily.
Comedy goes to Bridesmaids.

Nephthys
Avengers or Skyfall.

Granted those were the only ones I saw this year other than Batman, but they were still incredible movies.

NicholasPoll
The best movie of the 2012 is SKY FALL.

Just watched it, was better than I expected and overall a decent film, but "near perfect", certainly not.

-Pr-
In order:

DKR
Hobbit
Avengers
Django Unchained
Skyfall/Prometheus

I wish Looper hadn't been so disappointing...

Kazenji
How was Looper disappointing for you?

roughrider
I still might have to give it to The Avengers, as the best bullseye of the year. A perfect realization all the way through.

I'm waiting for Zero Dark Thirty this week; that might be the best. And I still have to see Django Unchained.

Others in my top ten, right now:

Silver Linings Playbook
Skyfall
The Dark Knight Rises
Prometheus
Dredd
John Carter (maybe the year's most underrated film.)
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
ParaNorman
The Cabin In the Woods

Overrated: The Master , The Hunger Games

Patient_Leech
Prometheus is hands-down my favorite movie of the year, but what I actually think will WIN best movie of the year is a different story. Probably Django Unchained, Life of Pi, or Skyfall. Django and Pi are excellente.

ditto
The best film I saw in 2012 was Skyfall.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey without a doubt!

Arachnid1
Avengers without a doubt, with Skyfall in second place and Prometheus in third. Great year for movies. The best super hero film I've ever seen, along with some of the best I've seen in action and science fiction. Hopefully, 2013 does as good.

My Best Film of 2012 are

Blue Like Jazz
Sound of Noise
A Bag of Hammers
The Intouchables
Under African Skies

Rocketrobo
hah I'd like to view these films mentioned in the thread.

Silent_Bomber
I liked Django Unchained a lot.

Personally I found quite a few movies to be overrated this year, there was a lot of really self-indulgent, and generally pretentious movies.

Patient_Leech
Did no one here pick Argo?

Kazenji
Sorry for not seeing it.

Darth Martin

I didn't see Argo either. I'm just pointing out that no one here would have picked it as Best Picture. It just doesnt look interesting to me.. not my cup of tea. I was hoping Life of Pi would get Best Picture, but it did win several awards including Best Director, which is practically the same thing to me.

Mindset
Argo was good, but nothing great, neither was Zero Dark Thirty.

Darth Martin
I thought Argo was good too. Zero Dark Thirty was great to me.

Hi there,

Holy Motors is the best movie of 2012
This movie is just straight-up nuts, in all the best ways. Writer-director Leos Carax's journey provides a joyous, surprising and darkly funny exploration of all the best cinema has to offer.

2012 was a terrible year for movies. Dark Knight Rises was just terrible...so was Avengers. Those are kids movies. Life of Pi was a pretty good one, though. Skyfall was alright.
