What is the best art you have seen in a book, comic book, or manga?

For me, it has got to be Batman Inc. and Doctor Strange Season One...

Beautiful Art.

'Marvels' - Alex Ross

A traditional book though, I always loved Dale Keown's Hulk stuff.

Ethan van sciver on GL was incredible. I liked Michael Turner's art too. JH Williams III on Detective comics and Batwoman takes the winner though, simply awesome art.

Ryan Stegman. He should be in charge of drawing Spider-man......forever.

Yep Keown is very talented, and easily one of my all time top 10 artists ever. The crazy thing is that he doesn't think that he's all that good. Maybe he's just really humble. Either way he's a really cool guy.

He's not as good as Todd McFarlane, which is what I get when I look at his artwork.

Silent_Bomber
Dunno about best, but my favourite artists are -

Clint Langley (only his ABC Warriors stuff though, his other work looks a bit too computerised to me).

Carl Critchlow

Darth Jello
Jack Kirby, Bill Sienkiewicz, early Frank Miller's Marvel artwork, David Mack, and Alex Maleev.

Love gritty, nostalgic, and surrealistic comics art. Daredevil is still my fave as well.

Galan007
Agustin Alessio.

What's that from?

Galan007
Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison. It is an absolutely brilliant mini.

JakeTheBank
I've been meaning to start collecting Star Wars comics before they inevitably go from Dark Horse to Marvel.

-Pr-
You won't regret it.

JakeTheBank
Is the "Star Wars" ongoing any good? I'm glad there seems to be a refocus on the Galactic Civil War era.

Galan007
Gotta say, Ghost Prison is probably the best SW-related mini I've ever read. Tbh, it's one of the best comic book minis I've read period.

I highly suggest it. You won't be disappointed.

Naw I like McFarlane, but Stegman has him beat in my opinion when it comes to spidey. Mcfarlane had a tendency to get wonky with body proportions and faces. Still a great artist but for me Stegman just captures how spidey should look and move.

Golgo13
JH Williams lll on Batwoman is brilliant. Arguably one of the best artists in the industry now.

Chewbacca would go on to beat the shit out of Vader somehow.

JayDaDon
I was about to say watch him have Han learn the force and ragestomp Vader.

Putting aside the painted work of Alex Ross, Easd Ribic and the others (let's put that in a separate category), I think some of the best, most flawlessly penciled & inked drawn art I've ever seen was Phil Jimenez's work on New X-Men, and Bryan Hitch's work on The Ultimates (in particular, Ultimates vol. 2)

I say flawless in the sense of photo realism, and how comic art often depends on slight caricature - the old Jack Kirby rule about exaggerating for effect. Those series, I got the feeling of watching real people through a glass panel.

Kazenji
I don't mind Alan Davis
