Looking fairly decent

T3T-evQZiQo&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Robtard
Yeah, saw the promotional for it last night. Will give it a try.

Another that looks like it might be okay is the Dracula one with Jonathan Rhys Myers.

Headless Horseman show looks like a flop though.

The_Tempest
It's got Joss Whedon attached to it, it's decent by default. But only time will tell if it will ever live up to Whedon's true magnum opus, FireflyAngel.

Yup, even though it looks like Bram Stoker's Dracula: the series.

jaden101
Believe he directed the 1st episode. Looks like it has the witty wisecracking humour of Firefly and Avengers.

david1291
Been waiting for this. Glad to see Coulson back, now just gotta wait unitl Tuesday yes

Darth Vicious
This show has a lot of potential. They could go for Alias or Heroes with the episodes/stories.

BruceSkywalker
not really high on this, but will watch

Nephthys
Wasn't the premier tonight? I'll check it out.

SpaceMonkey
Watched the pilot and I have to say this was really good. I am definitely looking forward to watching more.

BlackZero30x
I liked it but I was disappointed a little. The guy that is the "focus" of the show get me all excited hoping he was a particular hero from the comics but he was not. sad Other then that though I cant think of anything that was bad about it.

ares834
Yeah, I think that was their ploy. Trying to trick us into believing it's Luke Cage... Meh.

Anyway, it was decent. Hopefully it picks up as the season progresses.

KingD19
I knew it wasn't Luke Cage. It just wouldn't be right to have Cage and no Iron Fist, no Hero's for Hire, no nothing.

the ninjak
I like how he was had Extremis instead of being Luke Cage.
That more than made up for it.

BlackZero30x
I figured it was going to be Cage and they were gonna bring Danny in later and hint at Heroes for Hire. I didn't have any problems with the show I was just disappointed because it wasn't him. Though now with this out has anyone heard about the new show DC wants to make? It follows Jim Gordan in Gotham City before Batman was around.

BruceSkywalker
pilot episode was horrible.. could have been better.. it did show some promise so i will continue to watch, however since this going up against arguably the show show on tv NCIS, this will have to wait for me to watch until around 11 pm my time

that really doesn't mean anything as NCIS won the night.. Also the show has to maintain those 12 million viewers each week

Angel, not Buffy, heretic.

Was not that impressed with first episode, had 1 or 2 good parts, the rest was just fuddling around imo..Ill keep watching to hope for something better.

the ninjak
Oh cmon! It played out the way I expected a SHIELD based series to play out.

What did you guys want? A superhero team-up?

It's SHIELD. They introduced Extremis. Which was enough for a first ep as an extension of Ironman III, and introduced a proactive spy team.

Your standards are too high.

I agree. Except I did think it would be cool to take some Heroes that don't have the option of a movie to be attached in someway. Almost in the way the pilot played out but have an actual hero introduced. This way it makes for a good episode and if people don't care much for the character they will still be "attached" to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but don't need a movie. On the flip the character could become very popular and could lead way to a movie. Either way it could be an entertaining episode. To keep it from getting to be an overused theme they could change up the formula and only do it 2-3 times a season.

The_Tempest
I'm a devout Whedonite, but this was a decidedly average showing by Whedon standards. I'll continue to watch it in hopes that the quality improves, but right now the only thing that I care about is Chloe Bennet's breasts.

ares834
The ending made this episode. By far the best part.

The rest was still rather sub par.

BruceSkywalker
second episode wasn't that impressive either despite seeing Sam Jackson ...

this show HAS GOT TO PICK UP and tell better stories.. I'd like to know where in the world are S.H.I.E.L.D.'S weapons at.. All I see is that this is a cop show , yet it should be more

Chloe Bennett is an American woman that transferred to PRC. She's only half-brown, from a technical standpoint. And gtfo with this racist sh1t about there being no brown people.

Chloe is fine as hell. 2nd episode was better, still lacks the magic of Angel/Firefly.

If they need to go that route then they need to start explaining what a LMD is, throw hints here and there and leave the reveal to the season finale(if it makes it that far).

The show targets a younger and family audience, I wouldn't even bother trying to compare it to GoT and BB.
You brought up Firefly which this show is very similar too but that was a ragtag team of pirates.
As far as I'm concerned the show is pretty consistent with the flavour of its film counterparts and although a cheesefest works well.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is not consistent with the flavor of the marvel cinematic universe. The Marvel cinematic universe does not produce movies specifically and solely directed at children, considering it also caters to and satisfies adults, comic book nerds and sci-fi fans. This, whereas AoS is a cheese fest which does not cater to the aforementioned groups (ie. adults, comic book nerds and sci-fi fans). Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is mostly appealing to younger audiences, however, it lacks the substance, character depth, and compelling story which made the Marvel movies such hits.

-I believe AoS is consistent within the Marvel Studios universe.
-Adults, comic nerds and sci-fi fans can still enjoy this series as well...obviously, my point was that the films are also catered for family audiences. And so they should, you brought up GoT and Breaking Bad, which this show most definitely doesn't seek to relate to.
Yet you agree the show is a cheese fest. And cheese fests are all about the fun factor, which this show has tonnes of.

-In regards to the films? This is SHIELD, they are people dealing with outbreaks.

I have no problem with this show.

When a TV show is designated the title "cheesefest", it is implied that the TV show lacks in quality. The first few episodes were so cheesy that it caused audiences to cringe. "cheesfest" is not a compliment. Also, when i bring upshows like GoT and Braking Bad, I'm not referring to their mature content as a correlation point, I am referring to their quality in direction, acting and writing. Furthermore, AoS is not consistent with the Marvel cinematic universe in terms of quality _ a show doesn't have to be cheesy to be all about the fun factor

Fair enough. I actually meant "cheesefest" in positive manner.
This isn't a serious show. The characters are practically archetypal stereotypes of a elite spy team.
Kung fu lady, James Bond, hacker girl, tech wizards and the leader.
I want to give this series more time to grow before I give final judgement.

I understand that a show doesn't have to be cheesy to be fun and although the show plays it safe often, it has massive potential.

And in regards to the show existing in flavour of the films?
SHIELD struggled throughout all of the Marvel Studio films.
A team like the one Coulson has assembled fits in just fine.

DARTH POWER
Nah, this show still isn't giving us anything special. And I've been giving it the chance to do that week after week. Very disappointed considering Whedon's at the helm.

Perhaps he's too busy with Avengers 2 and other stuff he's doing to make another awesome weekly tv show, in which case they should give this show to someone else.

Joss Whedon is not writing this show, he is just running it. All whedon does is approve storylines and scripts

BruceSkywalker
last night's ep was fair and that is putting it mildly.. the sunfire ripoff could have been handled better.. its good that they mention the avengers in passing but they should really have at least one of them guest star if nothing else..

BruceSkywalker
last night,......

this show has porn star quality acting and porn star quality writing.. I thought last week the writing was slightly improving however last night they regressed.

Joss Whedon as SHOWRUNNER needs to either fire the so called writers or simply take control of those duties.. Afterall he did find time to re write some of Thor The Dark World.

Skye is so useless, even Penelope from Criminal Minds is a far better hacker than she is. Also I constantly laughed out loud when they kept on saying "its classified"..

So far, great episode.

BruceSkywalker
the thorcentric ep,, writing was ok,, acting still of pornstar variety..

brett dalton overacts, the two foreign actors need to go.. i could not buy peter macnichol as an asgardian at all

Mindship
Actually, what did bother me in a way was how much emphasis they were putting on gods=aliens. I know it's an attempt to be more scifi'y, but imo, it takes away some of the "charm" of the Thor universe, ie, making magic "explainable." It would've been nice if a kind of LOTR/Harry Potter "feel" could've been imparted to the story.

Stealth Moose
I watched part of the latest episode and it wasn't very appealing. It's a very limited sample, but the dialogue just struck me as very terrible and agreed on the choice of actor for the Asgardian.

the ninjak
I can't believe this series would take this path.....

They had Thor 2!
And instead of venturing into the science of the film they took a back path and created a weapon/artifact to base the episode upon. Which was a Staff of Rage.

......I wanted to like this series but they exuded the laziest representation of the mythos I could imagine. The episode hurt me.
And the preview for the next ep just hurts.......

Just who is in charge of this show? They must be ass-munchers for this series to end in one more episode is madness and the quality of storytelling is severely lacking.

Vision is what's required for such stories and this show lacks it.

wakkawakkawakka
Well I saw Agents of SHIELD for the first time and I'm not going to lie....I wasn't impressed. Maybe there's something you guys are seeing that I'm not but this is kind of lame. I was hoping they would've introduced Iron Fist or Luke Cage by now but nope.

When I saw the trailers for it I though I was going to get someone with legit superpowers. Those two were the first to come to mind.

Even if my expectation were unreal, I still stand by my original statement that this show is not all that interesting. I will give it another chance though.

Arrow's just so far ahead of this show it's stupid.

BruceSkywalker
this show continues to be written poorly.. Either Joss Whedon should fire himself or whoever the alleged writers are.. I nearly spit out my green tea that i was drinking when Skye said she didn;t believe people who could read minds/ move things with their minds doesn't exist.. Like hello you twit the battle of New York, Extremis which has been mentioned all throughout previous episodes, just last week with the Thorcentric episode.. still porn star quality acting .. no wonder people tuned in to watch Rudoplh last night

the ninjak
In regards to this episode I wonder if the villain was trapped in Asgardian Hel?
Odd use of the mythology though. It left too many questions and none answered.
Episode felt like an episode of Supernatural.

No reason to be tired of random character references.
This is SHIELD, not Avengers.
But one would think Stark of all people would be involved considering he cured Pepper of Extremis.
Regardless good to see Richards back playing Mike Peterson.
And also good to see a threat that doesn't end at the conclusion of every episode.
Looks like the creators have had time to concentrate on the faults of the show and started to rectify them.

Im pretty sure that the existence of intelligent and majestic alien civilizations, that are based on long forgotten human myth and legend, beat out a science experiment gone wrong and a man in a flying suit for top headline. In the real world this would be huge news.

Also, it is a little crazy that after episodes full of taking on heavily armed and explicitly evil villains with kung fu and night-night guns, this facility connected with SHIELD that they think might hold lifesaving technology that's guarded by two guys who are only defending the place is one of the few moments Coulson and his crew have decided to bust out the lethal force.

If it is part of a "Coulson et al. are kinda losing it and getting reckless/dangerous" storyline, that's one thing, but it certainly stands out given what's come before.

Coulson and crew tried to conduct business peacefully, but they were being shot at.

Also I suppose only 2 men were guarding the facility because too many people couldn't know about it.

And whoever was running it didn't think anyone would find it

Nephthys
They broke into a secret facility armed with machine guns after being told to **** off after failing to give the code. You really think the guards were going to be like "Sure thing bro, aliens in the back next to the cooler. Wanna beer?"

Coulson murdered 2 SHIELD agents, blew up a top secret facility and destroyed an irreplaceable and indescribably valuable alien. That place could bring people back from the freaking dead. Lets just say that if this was a well written show the rest of the series would be entitled Janitors of S.H.I.E.L.D. if not Prisoners of S.H.I.E.L.D. But I bet they don't even get chewed out for it.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That facility was never shown as a SHIELD base. It could be SWORD for all we know. Also, it's kinda good it blew up - wouldn't want the clairvoyant taking control of it.

Coulson firing back was self-defense. And Coulson only decided to use firepower when they weren't being let in the base. Skye was dying and Coulson was willing to do whatever it took.

sorry I don't know how to redact the text

Nephthys
It was a SHIELD base. The map to it was in the SHIELD database. You needed level 10 SHEILD clearance to know about it. Coulson knows that Fury and SHIELD doctors were there because he can remember them from his operation. And Fury gave Coulson the documents detailing the drug they found in the base, which was named after the base (the documents Coulson used to basically screw him up the ass this episode).

They have non-lethal weapons, they just chose not to use them. The agents they killed were the ones defending from Coulsons attack on the base. I know that Coulon was willing to do anything to save Skye and thought what he did was the only way to do that. And he should be fired for it. no expression

Its just then without the spaces. Put them around the thing you want to hide like this,

Robtard
IIRC, it was stated to not be part of SHIELD, just connected. Like a partnership or such.

I like that guy, so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.

That was so stupid. He even had a non-lethal gun. Why not just freaking shoot her as soon as he saw her? Originally posted by Robtard
Cos plot.

Cos maybe her voice-powers where affectioning him just enough.

But probably just CIS/PIS.

Basically. I could even buy that her voice was enough to start working on him a bit, but...I don't know, I just think it could've been done a bit better.

Coulson using the brainwashed guys to his advantage was cool, though. Poor Fitz. laughing

Episode was pretty meh. Was expecting a whole lot more.

And I'm pretty sure that they decided to not make him a Kree. Ronan is blue though.

Oh maybe, haven't seen they changed his race. Also have they released a picture of Ronan?

Unless you count his action figure, Then yes.

I have not watched much of this yet, but how did they bring agent Coulson back?

Nephthys
I just watched the latest episode and Winter Soldier and....... I have no idea how they're going to deal with that shit. I'm legit interested though.

Well one thing's for sure. We shouldn't be seeing Agent Sitwell ever again.

He could have survived being thrown out of a car. Coulson survived Loki's sceptor in his heart.

Sitwell should reappear in Agents of SHIELD on crutches.

ares834
Hope not. Leave him dead.

We see him get smashed by the truck that was speeding past. Coulson died, but was brought back to life.

ares834
I was kinda expecting/hoping they would do that, but dang it still caught me off guard.

Hail Hydra!

Nephthys
So basically the reveal at the end was: SPOILERS!

Hail Hydra motherf*ckers.

Good episode.

Firefly218
Amazing episode

Damn that episode (17) was freakin incredible.

Agents of SHIELD is living up to its "cloak and dagger" roots here.

Can't believe I haven't seen Cap II yet but now it's a must.

What happened to Victoria Hand was vicious but considering the lack of obvious kill shots her fate is still in question.

I don't believe Grant Ward is an agent of HYDRA

Robtard
He's not. They'll be some twist where they planned it out so he can get deep into Hydra.

You gotta admit, it was cold how he killed those agents. But to make an omelette you gotta break a few heads.

He still had some night-night rounds though.

ares834
If Ward ends up being a triple agent I will legitimately be pissed off. Making him a member of Hydra is far more interesting and could lead to better story-lines.

the ninjak
It would lead to good story-lines whether he is or isn't.

But the later is practically obvious. He's the Bond of the team. And Bond puts the pussy on the pedestal. It's his weakness.

ares834
Not nearly as easily nor as good.

Plus making him a triple agent seem cheap. Personally, I find it to be uninteresting and done far too many times.

the ninjak
He's not even a double agent. He's probably faking it.

And I prefer it if he is. HYDRA doesn't keep a record of members. As evident of when John Garrett (Bill Paxton) hoped members existed among his rescue team. It's an easy in.

ares834
I'm pretty sure if he is actually still working for SHIELD he would be a triple agent. That means he would be a SHIELD agent pretending to be a Hydra agent that was pretending to be a SHIELD Agent.

the ninjak
Not if he decided to pretend to be a HYDRA agent during this mission.

In which case he's just an agent of SHIELD.

ares834
Nah, that would still make him a triple agent as he is pretending that he was a Hydra double agent.

Anyway, my problem isn't that he would a triple agent or whatever, my problem is that he isn't actually a villain. It's a cheap way to create more tension and interest in the show.

the ninjak
K. I see no problem either way. That's the nature of such shows.

BruceSkywalker
episode was a total letdown.. it could have and should have been better..
