Jim Colyer
He was the center fielder of a major league team
He could hit with power and run like a deer
He made the cover of all the magazines
Adored by men and women alike

He became an alcoholic in his middle years
Autographing baseballs at $5 apiece
The liver transplant couldn't keep him alive
His emaciated body was a pitiful sight

Everything Is A Phase
There's no reality to anything
There's no real substance
Just passing images and ideas
Just fading perceptions and myth
Illusions that serve to fool
Nothing ever lasts
Everything Is A Phase

She had the face and body of a goddess
Her legs bought her a stint in old Las Vegas
She even had her own TV show for a season
Dated the most famous actors in Hollywood

Today she's a crusty old dried up hag
Often longing for death as she thumbs
Through photo albums from her salad days
On her way to eternal oblivion

Everything Is A Phase
There's no reality to anything
There's no real substance
Just passing images and ideas
Just fading perceptions and myth
Illusions that serve to fool
Nothing ever lasts
Everything Is A Phase
