If doom can wtfpawn an angry bannerless hulk, what chance does rulk have unless they are starting on melee distance from the start.

It was a demonstration of his ability with prep.
Clearly LF Rulk was nothing more than a nuisance to Galactus, so there's no call for Doom to go collect artefacts to build a device to help him siphon Galactus' powers... All that's needed is to know Doom with even minute amounts of prep can do awesome things and, with 3 days of prep, should comfortably annihilate Rulk.

Current Big Ego Headed Fan service mode Doom takes both.

Not even RUlk and his amazing dissappearing mustahce can pull off a win.
