David VS Goliath;
Tell me if I'm wrong but to me Hal Jordan VS Mongul in return of superman was one of the best. I didn't think he would put mongul down. Mongul was yellow, could give superman a hurting and of course vicious as they come. Hal definitely had things stacked against him.

Universal- various corps vs Nekron in blackest might 8.

Thor vs. the Celestials is one of the most metal as phuck "David vs. Goliath" moments in comics.

Also Infinity Gauntlet ranks high up there as far as universal peril/planets being destroyed/David vs. Goliath/etc.

Invincible has some of the best fights in the comics.

Invincible vs Conquest is still the best fight in the series IMO.

Nothing is better than COIE. Thor was a gnat to Celestials and didn't do shit to them. The ending of COIE where Kal-L shouts, "I've had enough" and kills the ****ing Anti-monitor is still the greatest hero moment against impossible odds.

It's a good moment, I'll give you that, but Kal-L had help from Superboy, Darkseid, and Alexander Luthor, which detracts from the David and Goliath moment, imo. To that end, you and both know that there's better moments for (a) Superman than that where he didn't require that level of assistance to save the day.

And as far as Thor vs. Celestials go, to deny the level of hardcore metal that confrontation was is folly.

Surfer vs Rune with the IG for David and Goliath

Though it wasn't... good... Surfer kicked the dogshit out of him. Which is one of the biggest power discrepancies ever in comics I think.

Distracted IG does not mean a weakened IG.

The only person who could defeat him was Surfer.

It's definitely one of the best major events, IMO. Truly epic and some of the battles were good as well. Far and away better than most events today.

The best fight was Mandrakk VS. Superman (on the highest stakes possible)
Personally, I thought this was an awesome fight for what the author tried to make it stand for and what it represented. A battle between 2 ideas, the birth of comics and the end of comics. A fight about how Superman and his "story" about being send to earth being the sole survive of a forgotten race is stronger than even that which represents the death of comics. Even when the end comes, Mandrakk (representing the end of comics), Superman's story will still be greater than the end. Did I mention the entire fight was fought between the time of 2 heartbeats. AND to top it off, when asked by Mandrakk what should be written on Superman's tombstone, his reply...

Gravity vs Hardball was a classic old school style slugfest where the two combatants really went at it. Even though Greg came across as a dick. Still, one of my favorite scraps in recent years.

Zeus vs Hulk is probably the absolute worst spite stomp in comics in the last decade or so.

For universe at risk I pick Thanos fighting Thor and then Odin in Blood & Thunder.

For brutality there are several fights from Invincible that were pretty brutal, tough to pick only one.
