IIRC it's mentioned that the scale of the 3rd world is much larger than the 4th. Additionally, we've seen a couple relics/weapons from the 3rd world (e.g. S'ivaa, Mageddon) which individually were enormous threats to the New Gods and the rest of the universe. One could easily extrapolate from that that the Gods of the 3rd world were massively powerful to have such weapons.
