OK the first seems to have been a failure by me so i'll try this again to make things more fair.

Avengers are sent to the X Mansion to bring Xavier in for questioning. Being one of the most powerful mutants in the world, S.H.I.E.L.D. wants an accurate assment of the "Mutant Threat". Fury sends in Captain America to peacefully bring in the Prof. Nick Fury sends in additional Avergers as well in case things go South. Which, of course, they do.

Wolverine meets Steve at the door and says Xavier isn't home, then he whips out the claws and threatens Steve. Seeing this The Avengers all run in. Cyclops then walks out leading the X-Men.

X-Men: Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, X-2 Jean, Nightcrawler, Beast, Colossus and Rouge

Avengers: Cap, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Amazing Spiderman, Daredevil, And the Fantastic Four.

Stark, Thor and Banner are still eating shawarma and will not leave. Ever.

This is a better fight. More difficult to figure out. The X-men still have more raw power, but if the Avengers played smart they could win this. Hmmm... do the teams know anything about each other?

I'll have to get back on you on this after I've thought it out.

Going X-men here. But it's a lot closer of a fight.

Yeah it's definitely closer. The Fantastic Four are the biggest threat but if Rogue can tag Johnny before he goes Supernova then I see the X-men taking it. Nightcrawler and Spider-man would make for an interesting match but the blue dude will need back up which I guess Beast could come in.

Jean>Sue via telepathic powers.

Iceman+Storm>Mr.Fantastic...and at least one of the street level characters. The Avengers could take out Wolverine and Cyclops but they would have to work fast before any of the Xmen finish their fights. Then again Storm could just put a blizzard on everyone though her lightning has a build-up time to it I think: would easily take everyone on the Avengers out if it didn't.

So still going with Xmen but I can see an argument for the Avengers here.

Going Avengers. Jean telekinesis is good. Sue's force fields are better. While she has telepathy, we've never seen her straight out mindrape someone. Plus, Widow and Hawkeye are just too skilled with their ranged weaponry. At the start of the fight everyone is going to get filled with lead faster than Cyclops can react. Seeing as how none of the X-Men are bullet timers everyone but Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and maybe Beast will likely be riddled with holes. Hawkeye is the closest thing we've seen to a live-action JLA Batman.

Thing>Colossus and Wolverine alone going by feats and Cap is a much better strategist than Cyclops.

Without delving too hard into this, the Avengers have the best tactitian(Cap), the smartest member(Reed), the most powerful member(Sue), and the best weapons(Hawkeye). Not to mention extremely fast guys in Torch and Spider-Man.

Really, once they put down Jean the only tricky person will be Nightcrawler(who I admit is a monster in combat). Daredevil and Spider-Man both have limited pre-cog senses so that should help against them.

I actually think Wolverine is the worst possible opponent for Thing. Thing is not exactly agile, and knowing him he'll just come barging in at Wolverine thinking to tank whatever Logan throws at him. And while he'll undoubtedly clobber Wolverine he'll also suffer some serious claw slashes and stabs in the process. And though Wolverine can heal from whatever thrashing he gets from Thing, Thing can't heal (immediately) from the claw wounds. In the long run, Wolverine can actually kill Thing.

Sue Storm, although very strong with her shields, has never shown any offensive capability that I know of. She makes shields, that's about it. And while Jean may not have as much raw power as Sue, Jean's combination of tk and tp is more lethal than Sue's shields. And once Jean takes down Sue, she will start wreaking havoc on the other avengers.

What exactly has movie Sue done that makes everyone think she's so powerful? From what I recall, all she did was make shields. Not once do I remember her doing any offensive attack.

All the Fantastic Four win their fights. Spiderman vs Nightcrawler could go either way but considering it's Garfield Spiderman Nightcrawler has a chance to make a win. The Xmen beat the actual Avengers though Cyclops unimpressive feats would be weird against Hawkeye even though the former boasts enough raw power to oneshot him.Wolverine and Black Widow is a mismatch if I've ever seen one.

Or you could've just did this to illustrate that the numbers were even in which that case...my bad.
