He has but he finally succeeded in freeing his mother in "Triumph and Tragedy" with Strange's help.
But even then, it was a pyrrhic victory. His mother was freed but she was totally disgusted by his apparent actions (betraying Strange to free her) and as she went to her ultimate destination she told him to his face she was repulsed by him and his actions. So I'd consider that a draw.
Mephisto should wtfstompt Doom straight up.
Mephisto would lose to Doom with prep (like he'd lose to all "Prep Gods"
