GordonSkywalker
This is a brand-new addition to the usual discussions on here created by me. This will be a discussion thread about the movies Young Guns and Young Guns 2 and the messages of friendship, loyalty and brotherhood found within them. Other like subjects are encouraged. While this is an open forum those who have seen these films will have a slight advantage over others who may wish to join in. Above all brotherhood is encouraged and expected of everyone who chooses to take part. cool

Thomas H
yee-haw............this is a thread for Billy the KId.....but he aint no where to be seen...

Ride Regulators!

BackFire349
dont expect to see me post in this thread ever again.

Captain REX
You would if we put Leatherface and his chainsaw on a horse and had him ride off into the sunset...

GordonSkywalker
Yes this was inspired by the recent broadcasts of the film Young Guns in my area within the last week or so. This should be fun. All comments are welcome and everyone here is a friend!

Augeybana
GS perfect thread once again you out did yourself.

Ride Regulators...Ride!!!

GordonSkywalker
Let's get started then! Starting with the relationship of one William H. Bonney and pal Josiah "Doc" Skurlock. What are your perceptions of this historic friendship, gentlemen? cool

Captain REX
Never seen Young Guns, so I'm not in the know.

cookies2006
Sorry never seen young guns either.

Tex
I loved young guns when I was little kid back in the 80s. It had a special place in my heart, I saw it recently and wondered what the **** I ever saw in that piece of shit.wink

GordonSkywalker
Now there is some constructive criticism. I disagree of course but it is nice to hear a definite opinion at last.

Tex
Part II was horrendous

GordonSkywalker
Which part did you dislike the most?

Tex
Part II

GordonSkywalker
No I mean what particular scene from Part 2 did you dislike the most?

Augeybana
How can anybody not like Young Guns?

GordonSkywalker
He is of course entitled to his opinion but I say the movies are modern classics that can't be missed! Estevez is a cool but mad Billy while the rest of the cast are great.

finti
this belongs in the movie section so it will be moved

Thomas H
Number 1 is GREAT..but number two...wellit could be better!

Corran
yoo hoo, I'll make you famous.

finti
by the way, kiss my ass

Corran
In your dreams.

finti
I dream of genie

GordonSkywalker
Which characters are your favorites?

Thomas H
Billy The Kid offcource!

GordonSkywalker
I liked Billy and Doc the most from both films. By the way our discussion is scheduled to be moved to the movie discussion section. cool

Sünden
Young Guns was a great movie. I've not seen II, though I'm not tempted. I don't see how there could be a second.

finti
to show the last days of Billy

Julie
I don't have an opinion on young guns....b/c I haven't seen it

GordonSkywalker
There was not supposed to be a sequel to the original Young Guns at the time of its debut in 1988. The actors were not under contract for a second film. What happened was somebody came up with a gimmick of doing another one based on the claims by Brushy Bill Roberts, an old man claiming to be the Kid. Estevez, Sutherland and Philips signed on after they read the script, which they all felt was even better than the first. The second is an awesome movie that does contradict several ideas established in the first, but remains a wonderful movie nonetheless. You should see it.

finti
the first one is way better

GordonSkywalker
I like the second a bit more.

finti
well it is just a matter of taste so, dont geme wrong it was good but the forst was so refreshing when it came . It was awesome, wited the entire summer of 1990 for YG2 listening to the Bon Jovi song so maybe the expectations were a bit to high

GordonSkywalker
All right back to the questions: From the original Young Guns- who do you like better- Charlie Bowdre or Dirty Steve? I choose Steve because of his great facial expressions whenever something goes wrong- like in the film's climax when the gang are trapped at the McSween house. What do you guys think?

Augeybana
Yeah Dirty Steve was the best out of the two I just got the tape of Young Guns I'm going too start watchin' this bad boy.

GordonSkywalker
Yeah Steve was an allright dude! He and Chavez seldom got along but that was taken care of by the film's end. Shame about Dick Brewer though. Watch the film and you will see what I mean..........

Thomas H
dint like Doc too mcuh tho, he did not have the real guts to be a good companion..!

finti
doc is fictional

GordonSkywalker
Doc was the conscience of the gang. After Dick Brewer got cut down, the gang should have followed him, but Billy was more aggressive in excercising leadership over them.

GordonSkywalker
We are talking within the confines of the films, finti. And there was a real Josiah G. Scurlock. It's a matter of record. We have discussed this already. cool

Thomas H
billy was a good leader!

GordonSkywalker
If more than a bit crazy.

Thomas H
a leader have to be crazy!

GordonSkywalker
Dick Brewer wasn't and he was the original leader of the Lincoln County Regulators. Maybe that is why he was killed...he wasn't crazy enough to survive that outhouse encounter!

Thomas H
probably!

GordonSkywalker
Glad you concur with my analysis on this pivotal scene from the film.

GordonSkywalker
All right gentlemen: What do you think of the character Chavez and his attempts to be the spiritual advisor of the original regulators when they were on the run from the law?

GordonSkywalker
ATTENTION ALL REGULATORS:UNITE! Seeing as Young Guns is being rebroadcast again this weekend(I think that's when it is!) and with the Special Edition DVD now out at Blockbuster I am resurrecting this thread! Come one come all and let us discuss the original Young Guns and its cast of characters!.................Gordo

Thomas H
Chavez...hmm, I dont know...as really liked Billy the most...and everybody else where not though enough...

GordonSkywalker
Young Guns is coming on here tonight at 8pm on AMC. I don't know if anyone gets the same programming but it should be cool!

thelotrlovr15
i am never writing in this thread again....

GordonSkywalker
Now why on earth would you go and post that on my thread here?

Augeybana
Don't worry CVaptain GS who needs thelotrlovr15 small minded opinion anyways to bad I miss that AMC showing.

GordonSkywalker
We can still enjoy pleasant conversation about the films right here. My favorite charcter(besides Billy) is Doc Scurlock, writer, poet and plagarist extraordinaire! He was the closest friend to Dick Brewer and was the one most traumatised by the exploits of one William H. Bonney.......

Augeybana
Yeah I saw it yesterday sad though that Emilo carerr didn't pan out so well from movies aftert this.

GordonSkywalker
Exit Young Guns....hello The Mighty Ducks. Hm..I see your point. He did do a movie in 1998 called Dollar for the Dead in which he played a similiar character as in the Young Guns films. If you use your imagination that is....

Augeybana
How many mighty ducks were there anyways's.But I should say Men at Work wasn't that bad.

GordonSkywalker
There were three Mighty Ducks films. Men at Work is a personal favorite of mine-after Emilio Estevez's perfromances in the Young Guns films of course.

Augeybana
True that's he's best work but he'lll bound to come back.

GordonSkywalker
Yes he is a genius as far as I am concerned. Ever see his earlier films like St. Elmo's fire and The Breakfast Club? Classics both of them.

Augeybana
Hell yeah I must have watched Breakfast club a billion time already.

GordonSkywalker
Same here. I also have seen Dollar for the Dead and Men at Work which co-starred his brother Charlie Sheen. Great fun,

Augeybana
Yeah I wonder what happened to that rest of the characters carrers some are good but I thought they blast off after that movie.

GordonSkywalker
Kiefer Sutherland(Doc) is doing the 24 TV series now in its 2nd or 3rd season. Oh and Charlie Sheen (Dick Brewer) is also on a TV series I think. Not too sure what became of Lou Diamond Phillips but Terrance Stamp(John Tunstall) was Eddie Murphy's shrink in Bowfinger with Steve Martin.

Thomas H
Its in season number 2 gordy...

and Charlie is starring in the new CBS comedy Two And A Half Men next year on Mondays at 21.30 i think, right before CSI Miami!

Augeybana
Really interesting.

GordonSkywalker
Cool! Thanks for passing that information along fellow Regulator!

Augeybana
So Spin City must be cancled.

GordonSkywalker
I heard it might be.

Augeybana
Ohh because if Charlie Sheen is doing that new show then who will replace him on that show.

GordonSkywalker
Hmm..good question. Sheen replaced Michael J. Fox so the series will probably fold if Sheen is doing another series next season.

Augeybana
Yeah it not good to keep changing characters.

Thomas H
hey ague, its a long time since it was cancled!

Augeybana
Really get out of here.I'm not too much on T.V can't believe that do you know when.

GordonSkywalker
It has been cancelled?

Augeybana
Damn,it was a pretty funny show.

GordonSkywalker
I must have been asleep for some time if the show ended without me even knowing it.

Augeybana
Yeah I'm not much on watching T.V.Been getting pretty crappy.

GordonSkywalker
I ignore most television save for the three-hour sitcom fest that I watch a few times every week.

Augeybana
Yeah I only seen only 2 new shows most shows I watch been on television shows for more then 4 years already even more.

Tevesh
most new tv shows are pretty crappy. personally i love the simpsons and loved family guy.

Augeybana
Yeah I have the dvd to family guy very funny.

GordonSkywalker
Back to the central topic: Which Young Guns character do you prefer- Charlie Bowdre or Dirty Steve? Both were in the original film but were killed right at the end so never made it to the next one! So what do you guys think?

Augeybana
Dirty Steve hands down.

Thomas H
Dirty Steve!

GordonSkywalker
And I agree with both my esteemed brothers and go with Dirty Steve! He had the best facial expressions and his eyes got real big when he saw the calvary coming in at the McSween house.

Augeybana
Yeah just watch the movie again and still enjoy him.

GordonSkywalker
Cool. It was broadcast again last Sunday and it was excellent as always.

Augeybana
Never gives that show on T.V here and I hate commericals and they take parts out I hate that.

GordonSkywalker
The editing process leaves much to be desired when it comes to these films. Ever see the second one on WGN? They edit like crazy.

Augeybana
Yeah I hate the most liek Fox channel when they dubb the voice when they say a bad wordit's a entirely differant voice.

GordonSkywalker
Censorship again. You can't get around it.

Augeybana
I know it sucks but is there a dvd for Young Guns I only ahev the video tape.

GordonSkywalker
Actually there is. Both films are available on dvd and the first film has just been released as a special edition dvd. Oh and I had nightmares about Billy and Dirty Steve last night! That is what I get for staying up too late!

Augeybana
Scary dream I say I once drept Clint Eastwood shoot me 12 times after watching The Good the bad and the ugly at 2:00 am lats week.

But I got to get that dvd I never knew they had a special edition.

GordonSkywalker
Neither did I until the other day when I stumbled into the Blockbuster in town. I also watched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly last week. Last night I dreamed of Clint Eastwood from the one he did about his brother(a sherrif) being killed by bandits.

Thomas H
the good bad and the ugly is the best western ever!

GordonSkywalker
Yeah I watched it twice last week! Clint Eastwood's face always has the coolest expressions when he is talking to the bad guys.I really loved the ending to that one!

Augeybana
Yeah really good I got the three pack set with also Hang'em High and High Plains Drifter.

GordonSkywalker
All great classics.

Augeybana
Yeah watch them every week.

GordonSkywalker
Anyone seen the film Dollar for the Dead? Emilio Estevez is a nameless drifter who stumbles into some town or other and gets caught up with the towns people's problems. Could have easily been a 'Young Guns 3' except for the fact that he is much older in this one.

Augeybana
Never heard of it.Sounds interesting.

GordonSkywalker
Yeah it aired quite a while back on TNT or TNN one of those channels. Estevez was superb in this although you don't hear much about his recent efforts. I think this one was done in 1998 and he even played a similiar character in a Bon Jovi video in 2001. Arnold Schwartzenegger even appeared briefly with his Terminator motorcycle. cool

Augeybana
Really can't believe I never heard of it.

GordonSkywalker
I was a major tv addict back then so that is the only reason I saw both the movie and the music video.

Augeybana
I miss everything.

GordonSkywalker
I wonder if it is on video.

Augeybana
You can probaly find it on kazaa like you can find everything else.

GordonSkywalker
It is a great film to watch if you ever come across it.

Augeybana
Got to check it out I'll take your word for it.

GordonSkywalker
Good man.

Augeybana
Is Emilio Estevez in talk for another movie??

GordonSkywalker
Not sure if he is or not. Last thing he did that I know of was that film he co-starred with his brother in.

Augeybana
That sucks.

GordonSkywalker
So what are your thoughts on Dick Brewer? He was the original foreman of Tunstall's regulators who was shot to death by the bounty hunter in the outhouse in Young Guns. He was played by Charlie Sheen.

Augeybana
I think the brothers play well for each other.

GordonSkywalker
As far as I know both brothers have only appeared together in three movies: Young Guns, Men at Work and that last one I forgot the name of.

Augeybana
I believe there other movie was called Rated X.

GordonSkywalker
That's the one Aug!

Augeybana
Yeah the one about them playing real life porn directors.

Thomas H
anyone seen, emilo estevez and Charlie Sheens Men At Work?? that movie is funny!

Augeybana
Yeah there funniest together a true classic.

Thomas H
indeed!

Augeybana
Never saw X rated though.

GordonSkywalker
I also have not seen XRated and won't ever see it if I can help it. Tom is right about Men at Work. It is truly a funny and hilarious movie. I love to watch it when it is on tv.

Augeybana
I never heard of X rated to begin with was it a television movie.

GordonSkywalker
I...don't think it was my blue friend. I don't think it was in theaters either. Maybe it was straight to video?

Augeybana
Actually my friend it's Indigo Blue. But it was probaly striaght to video.

GordonSkywalker
What is indigo blue Augeycrawler?

Augeybana
A shade a blue.

GordonSkywalker
Very nice look man. The ladies should really go wild. Like they did for William H. Bonney. wink

Augeybana
That's what it's all about.
