So, present version Mordru (going by the scan), not future?

he has some pretty cool feats (like being above/on par with lords of order such as Nabu and Amethyst, both of whom held their own against a weaker version of the Spectre. He had also equally impressive and more impressive showings but that was with amps from what i recall.

The Spectre encounter, Shattered God instance, and being > Cronus, should give Gaea the win here, imo, though im not sure if she can actually kill him.

Present Mordru would be the weakling seen in Demon Knights.

However pre 52 I'm inclined to agree with Operator. With Prep and his penchant for leaching energy he could take a few but in an impromptu encounter I very much doubt he's winning. Though he wont be killed in JSA on two separate occasions it was stated he is without beginning or end plus when Hourman 1 million went to manipulate his time line to a weaker point no such point in time existed.

Mordru of the 30th century having absorbed and stolen power for a few more centuries is more likely to come closer to taking it.

^ just to clarify: by "present" i meant the one from 20/21st century, by "future" i mean 30/31st century, who has better showings (and as you said, has a better opportunity at winning)

sorry, thought you ment current version ( though in hind sight your use of future did make it obvious). Though honestly the Demon Knights version could fit in with all other versions even if they maintained continuity. After all his history has shown a character who over time has grown in power by the energy he's absorbed from others. Even if you go back to pre COIE appearances in Amethyst his power there ( in the 70's/80's) was well below what he was shown as like pre flashpoint in the 90's. Hell even as a neophite Amethyst was able to do great damage to him in his own place of power (that was of course only an issue or so after he had stole the soul body of the gem world traitor wizard he's resided in since - name escapes me ATM. IIRC he was trying to gain power to take Gem world for himself and mordru tricked him into thinking he was giving what he wanted). So really if you tie in all times you can see a steady progression in power over time. by the 30's century he'd sipposedly absorbed a good chunk of the energy of Sorcerors world.

Amethyst was post crisis, though. And Amethyst was able to merge with the whole world in that same story:

So it's not that bad.....

But yes, 30th century Mordru was depicted to be more powerful. He has more impressive showings, the most impressive showing would be when he was able to absorb half (the other half went to Glorith) of Infinite Man's power, which gave him control over time and space (though he was later overwhelmed by the whole power) in LoSH v4 #60:

The power progress that you were talking about actually is shown very clear throughout LoSH v4. At the beginning of the series his power was reduced, then (in the 40s issues) he absorbed enough power (thanks to Mysa) to easily handle the legion (even releasing the power of a star, or something like that) and then.....we have the infinite man affair. Unfortunately though, with the whole reboot, this story isn't canon, unlike several other stories which were canonized later on.

And in the 31st century (Lo3W #5), he absorbed the magic of the whole 247 universe (through kinetix):

The present Mordru (the one who mostly appeared in JSA among several others) never displayed anything on that level.

Really?
Your probably right.
Mid to late 80's was when the imbargoes on foreign imported publishings into Australia were removed. Until that point only a small percentage of foriegn published works could be directly imported the rest had to be printed by an Australian publisher (protection for local publishers). All US comics were reprinted by Murray publishing as "australian edition DC/ Marvel" etc. So the year I was reading the the Australian exition version of COIE ( Aust editions were always a little behind - 6 to 8 months, though I didnt know that back then) I was also reading the new comics being sent direct from the US. So I more than likely just read it first.
