But considering the question, the Bible was written by Jews so I would say that they really understood what they were trying to convey. The Christians used their book and then told them that they were not of god and going to hell, which the Jews don't believe in, btw.

The esoteric interpretation of what happened in Eden is the rise of the ego, the illusory sense of self "separating" from the womb/matrix of nature.
