Here are the scans of the duel between Ulic-Quel Droma (Dark Jedi) and Mandalore the Indomitable (Mandalorian Leader) from Tales of the Jedi.

Good quality scans. I rarely look at this fight so it's nice to recapture it.

Also, is Ulic no-selling blaster fire in that one panel via shield?

Nephthys
Thats what I thought too.

Q99
I'm not sure if it's TK blocking or supposed to be saber blocking but not wanting to draw the saber waving in front of his face.

Nephthys
True, though I'd probably still go with TK considering the narration mentions the Force.

Q99
Could also refer to precog, only the force lets blaster deflection after all.

Dunno of the panel color is supposed to be forcefield or just the choice of background...

Nephthys
Could, but thats a very roundabout way of putting it without elaboration and all. The simpler interpretation is the Force blocking it.

Stealth Moose
Agreed. Plus blaster bolt blocking was pretty minimal part of SW lore at that time. The PT made it a mainstay.

In any case, my respect for Uliq goes up.

Which episode?

Luke did it a lot in the OT.

And the making of a TK shield was first done in the comics, not in the movies at all. Though as this is one of those comics, that's probably an argument 'for' rather than 'against.'

Yes, in the scan, Ulic is not actively moving his saber and he is surrounded by a bright yellow glow. The next shot shows the chain beneath him was destroyed and he has leapt away to another location.
