Curious to see how this forum rates Dredd. How many out of 10 do you think Dredd can take against the measuring stick of the street-level characters? Standard gear for both (Cap has his shield, Dredd has his Lawgiver).

It was the best of their crossovers but I always felt they missed an opportunity for a deep and intellectually challenging story between the two. Dredd basically represents a system that is the antithesis to Batman's world view, they should have emphasised the differences between them more. One day I would love to see Dredd crossover with either Cap or Daredevil and really play up the moral differences between them; either of those two would make a great foil for exploring Dredd's world and his personal views on justice, law and (in the case of Cap) America.

Yeah, it would've been fun to watch Batman's deeper view on a system which totally warps his view of justice. I agree on that and a Cap/Dredd crossover would be all kind of badass.

This is Dredd's fight to lose, the Lawgiver has Rogers outgunned and they have similar stats. It depends in how Dredd approaches the match, if he has a good estimate of just how good Steve is, he gets a healthy majority.

My own thoughts:

Pure hand-to-hand Cap has an edge but it would be a great fight, Dredd is stylistically more like the Punisher than a Daredevil but he is a genuine elite A-Lister in terms of h2h skill as his fight with Batman (amongst other, less recognisable showings to non-2000AD readers) proved. You won't catch Dredd back-flipping over an opponent but he is incredibly effective in his own way and at least as strong and probably tougher than any other non-enhanced human (not including Cap).

Shield vs Lawgiver it gets very interesting, and to a great extent it would depend on if Dredd is going for the kill and/or if Cap knows what the gun can do. If he is out for the kill richochet bullets and incendiary rounds are excellent ways to get around the shield or at least to force Cap into leaving a few openings. If Cap can close the distance and/or disarm Dredd quickly then the odds swing in his favour.

Very close to a 50-50 split IMHO.

Of the two, Dredd has the single best feat IMHO - beating the actual Biblical Devil in combat (twice).

Cap's definitely got the better strength showings of course, but Dredd's no slouch in that department. He has some pretty crazy strength showings for a powerless guy. Here's one example:

At a minimum there Dredd is holding up 1500kg (1000kg for the car, 4-500kg for the passengers) and that is a very, very conservative estimate for the weight of the car. Most family cars weigh more like 1500kg to 2000kg according to a quick google search.

Cap is way over human nowadays soo this is Spite!

Cap wins. But "spite"? No, not by a long, long way. Dredd's feat list is long and pretty awesome in 2000AD, and he has proven time and time again he is virtually impossible to put down. Plus he has the h2h skills to really stretch Cap, and they have comparable amounts of time in combat situations.
