What if Guts stayed with the Band of the Hawk? Would Griffith have remained in good health and did away with the torture? Would the Bank of the Hawk still be alive? Would the eclipse still take place?

The answer is yes.

The reason Griffith ****ed up is because Guts left him and it devastated Griffith. So Griffith did something impulsive and stupid which caused the whole mess.


As it was noted rather directly, Griffith was the reason the Band of the Hawk was so successful: he is a master tactician of extreme genius proportions. Caska is good, maybe even great, but she does not come close to being on the same level as Griffith.

So, yeah, everything would be as it should be if Guts decided to stay with the Band. But then we wouldn't have the story we have. The whole point was for Guts to be come Griffith's equal.
