Growing up

mechmoggy
As I've grown older I've noticed how my taste in food has changed quite a lot, here are some foods I hated as a child but love now....

1. Tomato soup
2. Indian food - or anything spicy hot hot hot!
3. Pepper on anything
4. Sprouts
5. Cabbage
6. Plum tomato's
7. Brown bread
8. Rice
9. Omlette's
10. Seafood
11. Wotsits
12. Cadbury's Fruit & Nut

Its strange because I still have some of my strange food obsessions from childhood though, like....

1. When eating flavoured sweets, I'll empty the pack/bag and seperate them into flavour groups so that I don't end up with all one flavour left.

2. I still eat baked beans whenever possible, I just can't get enough of them.

3. Ditto with mashed potato's, I think I may be of Irish decent.

4. This is the strangest of all and Mrs.MM always laughs about it and even tells people....Whenever I eat a meal, I always leave a little bit of everything for last, i.e. if I was eating fish, chips and beans, I'd have a chip left, a bit of fish and a few beans. Thus the last fork-full would have a bit of everything on it.

Weird, no?

Raz
I'm trying to think, but my taste is pretty much the same. Apart from I can't stand chocolate and sugary things anymore.

hayden's minx

Corran
my taste buds have definately moved on, but you are correct about the beans thing, in fact my son commented today that I eat beans more than he does.

I do like Red wine and I remember still not liking that when I was about 18. And Curries really really hot curries.

Ushgarak
But you are STILL young, Minxy! Though not THAT young, obviously, no question of that...

Catch 22
Tomatoes and spicy foods.

Member.
lol, when you grow older, your taste buds and brain work differently so maybe thats whats causing it, no?

Julie
I used to not like liverworst...but for some odd reason I like it now

mechmoggy
There's some more....

Strong cheeses - Stilton, smoked etc. I love them all now.

Red wine - hated it but now its all I'll drink in the house.

And Raz is right about sweets, I really can't eat too many now without feeling ill. Does anyone else seperate flavoured sweets like me? I'd like to think its not all that weird.

Dexx
no..i do the axact same thing, IF i like everything in the plate.
If not, i'm sure to leave for the last fork a bit of everything of what i like.

Corran
I try to eat the things I like the least first and save my favourite to last, this ensures I will eat it all too.

Raz
Yup, I do that aswell.

Dexx
yeah...but when i'm really not hungry...this tactic doesn't always work.
Cause i sometimes end up not being able to eat my favourite. sad

- passage from the 'art of eating' - big grin

Phoenix
I don't wanna grow up..... Being 17 is kinda fun... if you forget abt the stress of schoolwork, housework, actual paid work, holiday fees, driving lessons, trying to look good, having a social life, attempting to keep parents happy... Actually, on second thoughts, role on the diploma!!

Dexx
unfortunatley the stress will increase proportional with the age.
I'm yet to see that on myself

mechmoggy
What about the colour/flavour coding of sweets though people, am I a freak?

Corran
Yes Mech you appear to be a freak. Happy now?

Julie
though you didn't ask me...I'm happy now

Corran
Good, if you're happy Jules, then we too are happy. smile

finti
never cared for sea food when I was younger, still dont and Mech you are indeed weird.

mechmoggy
But you can see my logic though, there's nothing worse than having lots of the same flavoured sweet in a row. Much better to get them all out at the start and group them by flavour, thus being able to have one of everything left at the end.

GordonSkywalker
Sounds very organised.

finti
sounds like luni home is next

mechmoggy
But at least all my sweeties will be in order. stick out tongue

Member.
hm...

GordonSkywalker
Yes growing up is hard to do.....I still hate macaroni and cheese, I still hate broccoli and brussel sprouts. And cabbage and collards.

Corran
Mech you are autistic, yes?

GS you need to start appreciating Broccolli a little more, it's one of the most under-rated vegetables. come on eat up your greens now.

GordonSkywalker
Somehow I don't think so. I hate greens. Thanks all the same. big grin

Corran
But they are extremely good for you.

finti
I hate broccoli

Corran
Hmmm you and Gordon are the same, you are like Michael and Latoya, only your mothers can tell you apart.

yerssot
my waffle! you mean I could lose interest in waffles ... AND chocolate??

Corran
No, no, that's not likely to happen we are talking chocolate here nobody ever loses the taste for chocolate.

yerssot
I know some sad
*worried*
better eat more before I don't like it anymore
*opens up truck and starts eating*

GordonSkywalker

finti

mechmoggy
Hot as hell today, and I was stuck in office all day designing.

How come it always rains when I'm out on the road and bloody lovely when I'm stuck indoors? It a feckin' conspiracy I tells ya. mad

yerssot

*hides under the table*

Member.
they can still see you me thinks.

yerssot
*searches pillow to hide underneath*

GordonSkywalker
Nah that won't work.

Catch 22
Haha, seems today our roles were reversed.

I spent all day on the road going to and from a meeting that lasted 2 hours. But on the plus there was very little traffic, so I just roled down the windows, stuck the radio on and took it nice and easy.

Weather like this makes me promise myself that my next car will be a convertable. smile

finti
so we gonna give you some rain then

mechmoggy
I'd love a soft-top too, but we'd only get to use it about twice per year in this country Catch.

yerssot
rain in england finti? impossible!

mechmoggy
Nice weather for ducks. stick out tongue

Anyway, whats Belgium got to offer?

Except for cheap tobacco I suppose. roll eyes (sarcastic)

yerssot

Corran
And more rain than England.

yerssot

Corran
T'was today.

yerssot

GordonSkywalker
Rain Rain Rain in England. Sun Sun Sun over The Paradise Retreat.

yerssot

*takes notebook*

Corran
You head up to Oostende, take a ferry accross the Channel and voila you are there.

finti
big grin:

yerssot
don't like oostende, is there an alternative way?

Corran
Yes.

finti

yerssot
but have you seen heathrow??
other way please big grin

finti
there is always Gatwick

yerssot
don't like the name

GordonSkywalker
Heathrow is where I was just at........I think......

yerssot
was it a place with lots of airplanes?

GordonSkywalker
...and annoying air stewardesses. wink

yerssot
that's not bad

GordonSkywalker
This one could talk anyone to death." Yes growing up is hard to do", she would say every time we crossed paths........

yerssot
who is this one talking about?

GordonSkywalker
A particular stewardess-in-training I had the misfortune of meeting some time ago.

yerssot
I fail to see the misfortune in that at the moment

GordonSkywalker
Love at first sight leads to broken hearts.

yerssot
or happy lives

GordonSkywalker
Oh it was fun while it lasted. big grin

yerssot

GordonSkywalker
Now I am in search for new experiences. big grin

yerssot

GordonSkywalker
Only if she is cute. big grin

yerssot

yerssot
