How do you feel about people like this? It irritates me that people think a game rated E(which means Everyone) is "kiddy" because it doesn't have "ultra realistic" graphics and blood, gore, and excessive swearing.

I take it most people with this outlook on games are either preteens/teens or barely past their early 20s. They're at the age where it's uncool to like "kiddy" things. I guess I never went through this phase as I've been gaming since the late 80s and still love to play games such as Mario, Donkey Kong, and Kirby. I still enjoy cartoons as well. I never wanted to be one of those boring old grownups who is afraid of having fun and only cares about a macho image.

Play some real games you ****ing child.

What is this E rating?

Everyone.

People think it's kiddy because it is. Just skimming over games with the E rating makes me think it's mostly for kids, sure I would play some of it , but I would only be entertained for so long. Melon slizer (or whatever it's called in english) is a E rated game that I sometimes play on my tablet, but I play it like 10 minutes my niece can play it for like 10 hours, the game is just more appealing to her then to me.

For me? I find it very difficult to watch cartoons that are designed even for older "younger" people. With games, I don't mind playing E games at all. The keyword is "everyone," after all. For the most part, however, I'm mostly playing "teen" or "mature" rated games.

I understand. I also play a lot of T and M rated games as well. I'm more concerned about the game entertaining me than whether it's for adults. If all I cared about was the latter, I would just be playing the bloodiest shooters and hack n slashes and complaining about the lack of porngraphy in games.

Quite frankly, I hate when people use terms like "kiddy" negatively. "Kiddy" isn't a reason. Now if they wanna say it's not their type of game or that it doesn't appeal to them I can understand. But to call it "kiddy" just makes that person sound like an insecure child that wants to appear more grown up. The only games that can even fall into that category are things like Dora The Explorer, Go Diego Go, Barney & Friends etc. Those are literally geared towards kids ages 7 and under. Whereas the games I mentioned in my initial post can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age. Just like a lot of Disney and Pixar movies.

I never really did get into Pokemon, but apparently there are more adults playing that than kids. Whereas most kids are playing games like Call Of Duty, Gears Of War, and Halo.

Smasandian
The adults that play Pokemon are probably people who played it when they were kids.

Anyways, I play games no matter what the classification is. If it's good , I will probably play it.

The Super Mario games are rated "E", and the raters couldn't be more wrong.

Mario is Italian. The Italians invented the Mafia.

Also, Mario is Missing is a documentary.

They are kiddy. Can you guess who the main target audience for those games is?

KCJ506
There's a difference between something intended for everyone in contrast to a game meant for 7 year olds and under.

"Kiddy" = game pretty much exclusively aimed at children
Game for everyone = game people of all ages enjoy

Just think of it like this:
Animated Disney and Pixar movies = Enjoyed by everyone
Teletubbies = Pretty much exclusively enjoyed by kids

The Disney/Pixar movies' main target are kids as well, but they have a number of both kid and adult fans. Hell Spongebob Squarepants is one of those rare cartoons that has been a hit with it's intended demographic and older people.

This seems like a lot of mangst for semantic issues.

Teleubbies is kiddy, and so is Tangled/Frozen. No matter which way you slice it, the main target audience for Tangled or Frozen are children and teenagers. It just has the added benefit of being fun enough to be enjoyed by adults. That doesn't make it bad. It does, however, make it kiddy. It has nothing to do with "ultra realistic graphics". I suppose gore can have some say in that, but throwing in blood doesn't make it more mature or increase its quality. For a game to be considered adult, it needs to have adult themes.

And thats not a bad thing. Pokemon X/Y is kiddy, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it right now. You seem to be under the misconception that kiddy=lame/bad quality/uncool, which isn't true. Being kiddy means you built your game around a younger target audience. Kiddy is hardly a word someone should take as an insult.

And the people who make Mario are Japanese, and they invented Yakuza...and Hentai.

No, it's like I mentioned before, it annoys me when people try to be "hardcore" and "edgy" and use that term in a negative way and even chastise the adults that enjoy things that kids enjoy. It seems there's an awkward teenage insecure feeling lots of people get. Sometimes it lasts into adulthood and for some people it doesn't even seem to go away.

I have not cared about what ratings a game had since I had to convince my mom that Goldeneye would be a good buy for an 11 year old.

Glancing at my game rack I have mostly (like 80%) rated 18 games, but I don't think games rated for everyone necessarily are any less good as games.

I think that a lot of people that think they are "hardcore" gamers that wont play a game because they think its "to kiddish" are not as hardcore as they think.

When I think of Hardcore gamers I not only think of someone that loves to immerse themselves into a game but also loves playing games no matter the genera or title rating. It just doesn't seem like someone that is so into games would actually reject a game because its got an E rating.
