That Nabu in the OP was stalemating DOV Spectre. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Nabu did not stalemate spectre in day of vengeance. Under what definition is being destroyed a stalemate? Nabu managed to drag the fight out long enough and raise the stakes enough that the presence had to pay attention and Reign is dog in.

Also the spectre in date of vengeance was unbound in other words a weaker version. In the 90s spectre run Corrigan was stripped from the aztar spirit and eclipse so easily defeated spec. Once Corrigan reunited with aztsr he turned the tales just as easily and stomped eclipsing

There were also a couple of pre crisis stories where the spectre was stripped or cut off from Corrigan and was shown to be weaker

Also when Crispus was becoming new host before he had accepted spectre was shown to also be weak

There is no way in hell any version of nothing is on or even near Specter level

For most of nanu's showings in a mortal form or physical host he is barely at Dr fate levels. The original bearded host was weak from so many centuries of fighting with magic. In Kent's body even more so as it was even more frail. Quite frankly his hand full of showings as a monstrous lord of chaos are for the most part much better than anything of him as a lord of order

^Don't get me wrong....I believe Spectre would've prevailed if drawn all the way out BUT it was a stalemate up until Nabu decided to let Spectre destroy him willingly in order to usher in the tenth age. Did you miss that little tidbit?

No didn't forget a statement he made before the fight even began.

Nor did I forget how on page 8 of that same issue after reading the cards they knew Spectre would destroyy all of them.

Or how after the page in your scan nabu fought (not let himself be killed as he stated) Spectre on pages 19,20,23,24,27 Before Spectre makes the killing strike on page 32, starting to die on page 34 and on page 37 he hands his helm to shadow pact before dying. Yeah GREAT stalemate. He managed to hold out long enough so that Spectre's rage grew to a point where his actions drew the attention of the presence and he stopped him.

Yeah he made the statement beforehand and still did better than anyone save Billy. Even though Nabu had shown restraint Spectre had to dig deep for the power to kill him. Nabu even questioned Spectre on why it was taking so long.

Just to give you an idea of what it took to take out Nabu:
Spectre had to harness "the dark forces of the first creation"
Spectre also had to "reach out savagely and blindly grasping everywhere at once for enough magic"

This was done at the time they both increased their mass to the point they dwarfed the planet. This is indicates a large scale attack is what it takes to down Nabu. He could have held out longer if not fighting for the purpose of summoning the Presence. He held his own until that kamikaze attack from Spectre.

Your original statement was that Nabu "stalemated " Spectre. I replied to say he didn't ( which is the case ) and. Ow you've offered evidence to support my stance ( evidence that shows what I stated I assume since I haven't looked at the scans since i pulled the issue to quote it as I posted my last post ). Getting defeated isn't a stalemate and never has been. I corrected you initial statement and everything you've said in this post supports my correction. I don't care how much he had to teach for the power, it was an unbound and therefore a weak Spectre. Still fact that Nabu didn't stalemate as you first said.

Yes he stalemated him for the time being. Nabu had to provoke Spectre to the point Spectre had do go all out for a killing strike. Do you think this wouldn't have been a longer fight minus the stipulations? They were shown to be equals until the final blow. A final blow that was intended. Nabu knew what it would take so he got to the point as quickly as he could. Now you want to say this was a unbound weak Spectre in which you're entitled to that stance but he steamrolled everything in DOV besides a being amped by thousands of mystics. Nabu's pic in the OP means we have to use that showing and in that showing he didn't do too bad at all against that Spectre given the conditions.

OMG when did the definition of Stalemate change???

The Spectre gained a win. Nabu knew or would before the battle even began. So clearly it wasn't a stalemate because one side could win.

Seriously it's not that complicated, Spectre was able to attain a victory so it was in no way ( nor can it be referred to as ) a stalemate
