I actually think using the "Trench" storyline is a good idea. While Aquaman comics in the past have almost flat out ignored the whole "Superfriends" lame legacy thing (though PAD did touch on it a couple of times), that arc confronts it head on. New viewers will be shown why Aquaman is what he is, and deserves their attention and respect.

So, fingers crossed they get it right.

I can see why they want to piggy back off if WAR, but i agree that the Trench storyline would have been a, if not safer, certainly more fun way to go.
