Giants beat there ass down.

Gren and 3 random Knights Watch members killed a single giant; they died in the process, but 4 guys with swords killed one.

It took the entire Fellowship to take down that Cave Troll and that was barely.

to be fair, the crows had the advantage of poking the giant full of holes as it charged the gate... and they still died in the process.

I don't even think they got to poke it. We saw him bullrush the gate and it crashed down. if anything the giant had the advantage as they had to back up to not get crushed by a all that metal falling on them. But yeah, all 4 of them died in the process of fighting one giant. Four normal guys, one of them we know was decently trained.

Then we have Aragorn, Gimili, Legolas, etc... giving their all to take down a single troll, and they're all superhuman to one degree or another and all insanely skilled. They didn't die, but the fight sure as hell wasn't easy.

LotR trolls take this. Those things were beastly. As people have said, the giants seemed impressive strength wise, but a handful of Knights Watch brothers of questionable skill dropped one. The entire friggin' Fellowship had a hard time putting a single cave troll down.
