All out

Cade stomps, brings back to life, and then stomps Thanaton again.

Q99
It's generally not a good idea to bet against Skywalkers.

carthage
Cade

Isn't Cade really weak? Sort of like Ben Skywalker level? I get the sense Thanaton is far more skilled and powerful.

Noooo.

Ok, Cade's story and strength growth in rapid fire. He was a fully-trained padawan ready for Knighthood- at least in skill, not so much mentality- when the massacre at Ossus happened. During this event, his master was fatally wounded, and using the force he dragged him back from the edge of death and healed him.

Cade then became a pirate and bounty hunter for 7 years. While he didn't use the force much in this time (though he did use it to heal damage inflicted by drugs and the like), he obviously still fought a lot and stayed in good physical shape. He ran into Princess Marasiah Fel and ended up tangling with some sith with the help of his old master and padawan buddy Shado Vao, now a master himself. At the time, he was outmatched by Darth Talon, Krayt's personal assassin, but when he got pissed, he threw a ship at her. Darth Nihl (the one that almost killed his master at Ossus) showed up and he was outmatched, but able to buy a little time. They escaped.

His master, Wolf Sazen, proceeded to train him for a month or so and get him back up to snuff, but then Cade decided to rescue a Jedi that he himself had captured as a bounty hunter shortly before, and went into the Sith's lair. He was captured by Talon and Nihl and the Sith decided to try and turn him, and trained him as a sith for two-three months.

So at this point, he's got full Jedi and Sith training. He learns to use his healing power offensively, as well as picking up other sith abilities. He proves able to beat Nihl and Talon individually, at least if they're a bit wounded, but gets beat down by Krayt himself. Cade's mom has to rescue him.

Anyway, Cade is free, meets up with the Jedi, convinces them and some Imperial Knights to gang up and assassinate Krayt (team ends up mostly Imperial Knights since it's not the Jedi Way, but Shado Vao tags along anyway). There's a complex scenario involving the Muur Talisman (which they use as Krayt bait) and ancient Jedi Celeste Morne, and it looks like Krayt's dead for a time.

One of the sith, Maladi, without Krayt around decides Cade'd be useful, and captures his friends. They mix it up, she hits him with powerful sorcery (Memory Walk), he hits it *back* at her (Cade knows Memory Walk), and even removes a bit of her memory, though she manages to escape and sets her entire base to blow up in a giant explosion. Cade can't leave because his friend is still there and in need of healing to not-die.

Cade, despite being at the middle of a gigantic explosion and busy healing a moment before, protects them both with a force shield and walks away with his friend casual-like through the flame, unharmed.

Stuff happens, Cade spends six months as a bounty hunter specializing in hunting down sith for the Hutts (who desire revenge due to their world being bombed by sith for helping the Mon Cal when the Mon Cal were singled out for elimination by Krayt's successor).

Krayt comes back from the dead, stronger than ever. War hits into high gear, Cade fights some of his very strong cyborg Sith Troopers (that is to say, high force potential people turned into cyborg monsters, able to take on masters by design). He also now well outmatches Talon and the like.

Cade confronts Krayt again. Despite the fact that Krayt is significantly upgraded, Cade is able to put up a much better fight this time, in a long back-and-forth, though Krayt's new powers get him the upper hand. Krayt brings Cade through death, which he thinks will turn Cade dark, but it in fact makes him finally decide on the light and in that brief moment strikes Krayt with his guard down.

So, Cade's more Jacen/Jaina level than Ben level.

He even has some fairly unique abilities- his healing ability that can draw people from the edge of death, and similarly it can be used to break and kill. Also has shatterpoints.

I actually thought the complete opposite when reading Legacy. For a dude who hadn't received any training in nearly a decade after the Sith destroyed the Order, he was ridiculously good. Stomping Hands left and right.

Ok, low spoilers version:

Cade's kinda the opposite of a noob when it comes to training or experience, except for a limited specific period.

Ben Skywalker, at least at the novel's times, would be no match for him.

Also, there's an issue of Legacy entitled 'Noob,' but it's on another character so this is a bit of a tangent.

Emperordmb
Only version of Ben that could beat Cade is Oneness Ben...
