Given time to acclimate himself to combat, is the Luke Skywalker at the beginning of NJO already more powerful than Palpatine?

Nice one. I need to brush up on my earlyNJO!Luke feats. Anyone got a primer?

As far as I know, the answer is no. IIRC his best feats up to that point are from Dark Empire.

Luke at this time is still holding back massively from the Hand of Thrawn books. TBH, he is likely inferior to his DE self. Sheev likely takes this.

If i remember correctly he assembled and disassembled vaders castle, and created the illusion of an entire fleet in the dark fleet trilogy

Have to say that was a pretty dumb feat though. As if you could walk around in a cathedral that was literally a mountain of rubble put together.

Him collapsing the Cathedral is believable though.

Does Luke have any saber feats at this point to put him above Sidious? I mean from the other NR books after the Thrawn trilogy/DE?

^ It's tough for Luke to acquire more saber feats when every other Force user he could've sparred with is so much weaker than him (and Sidious). He was already beginning to acquire some haxxed Force feats like destroying Vader's fortress and cloaking a capital ship, but I'm not sure if they're quite clearly beyond Palpatine yet.

He did beat Palpatine in DE with the help of "unlocked resources" from Leia's battle meditation. I would wager than 15 years or so would have unlocked enough of that potential for him to defeat RotS Sidious.
