AotC Kenobi vs. TPM Qui-Gon

Saber, force all out.

Roughly equal in terms of skill, but Kenobi knows Jinn's form inside and out whereas Jinn knows little of Kenobi's Soresu by AotC, so Kenobi should take a majority.

I'm unsure here, I am more impressed by Qui-Gon's performance against Maul than I am with Obi-wan performance against AOTC Dooku.

I'm going with Qui-Gon, i feel He's the superior duelist of the two

It could go either way imo.

Massive logic fail here. TPM Novel makes it clear Qui-Gon was greater than Kenobi at the time. It really doesn't matter who got the final blow on who, Qui-Gon was better. If Kenobi was so good he wouldn't have left Qui-Gon to face Maul alone in the first place.

Now this thread isn't even comparing Prime Kenobi to Qui-Gon. It's comparing AOTC Kenobi to Qui-Gon. And they are probably around the same level Imo. But I'd honestly say it's difficult to pin point the exact time Kenobi surpassed Qui-Gon. But AOTC Kenobi didn't do anything overly impressive Iirc.

Okay...

#1. More impressive than TPM Obi-wan yes. How many times did Obi-wan get taken out? how many times was Qui-Gon forced to duel Maul alone for a long duration?

#2. Wasn't Kenobi being enhanced by his rage?

#3. Qui-Gon did most of the work for him -_- again he dueled Maul multiple times alone. while Kenobi was kicked away - three times i think

And as for my comment, While i do believe Dooku>Maul. Qui-gon did last longer against Maul than ATOC Obi-Wan did against Dooku.

I don't think anyone can seriously argue that Kenobi knowing Jinn's Form so well he can anticipate his every move isn't a game breaking advantage. It'd tie in perfectly with Soresu's emphasis on looking for openings and tiring opponents out. Kenobi can exploit weaknesses in a lightsaber form he knows inside and out and Jinn's stamina can be taxed over time. In terms of raw skill, they're quite even, but Kenobi's just a terrible match up for him at this stage.

Kenobi didn't master Soresu until after AOTC IIRC

Qui Gon. Dooku's disappointment with Kenobi seems more truth that usual Sith cockiness.

^ Well that proves Based's point then. Qui-Gon was likely a fair bit greater than AOTC Kenobi ( Although perhaps Dooku was thinking of Qui-Gon in his prime).
