Who do you suppose suffers most for their crimes?

Anakin Skywalker

or...

every other Sith.

Anakin's not getting out of punishment. His spirit will be in the Light of the Force...along with Mace Windu, Obi Wan, Yoda, all those younglings from Revenge of the Sith, all those Jedi he killed in the EU, etc. Everyone he ever betrayed will be there with him for all eternity. On top of, having returned to the Light of the Force, his conscience returned. So he gets to view all of Darth Vader's actions with Anakin Skywalker's conscience. This is the same principle behind why the gypsys over in Buffy the Vampire Slayer curse Angel with his soul. Conscience can be torture enough.

While the Sith over in the Dark Side aren't feeling any pangs of conscience...they're also trapped for eternity with each other...they're spending an eternity with people consumed by rage and hate and all those other fun Dark Side emotions. Which is pretty much Hell.

The afterlife is BS.

Not sure if the afterlife is like that in Star Wars...

Plagueis actually had an interesting theory:

"The peace of the Netherworld? It is easily understood as the reaction of a mind that feels itself dissipating into the hum of background energy and accepts its fate without pain or fear. Minds that are less inclined to accept their loss of identity will fight to keep their grasp on order. These stronger minds will recoil as their constituent threads are pulled apart, and they will perceive their imminent dissolution as Chaos."
