Mutants are still human. They're not Baseline Human, but they're Human Mutants.

Mutants exist in real life, but they are still humans.

In X-men they are classified as "Homo Superior", which may suggest they are a different species.

Scientifically however, they are still the same species despite the name.

Yeah, even the name is "Homo Sapiens Superior". An extra genome doesn't make you not human.
