This is Sentry at his best (minus Death Sentry) taking Superman place during OWAW. Everything that happened or everything Superman accomplished during OWAW Sentry is also put in that same situation. If Superman has an amp, Sentry receive an extra dose of Serum (if it has anything to do with the sun)...3 doses for the planet pushing or he would receive whatever amp Superman received during the story.

Can he succeed or where would he end up failing?

At his very best he would do equally good. Supposed he gets the Kismet amp for the big bang and Darkseid saves him from the Entropy blast.

Sentry easily exceeds Superman. He can't be killed unlike Superman and wouldn't need saved by Darkseid.

Sentry probably would have cracked when he realizes his parents are dead and he essentially lets his wife's father die while saving someone else.

Then again, the Void might pop up there to take over and go on a rampage (ala Secret Invasion) to perform the feats Superman achieved once he let Luthor call the shots and numbed himself to the necessary state of violence alongside Doomsday to fight the probes.

But while Sentry can be a functional supergenius, he definitely would not have pulled together the coalition at the end to push Imperiex-powered Warworld through a temporal Boomtube. IIRC, that was Superman's idea.

Sentry can accomplish anything Superman did, probably with a lot less effort.

The problem arrises with the amped section. If he gets Kismet, sure. But even with other serums, it's hard to see him jump in scale to the degree a sundip gave Superman. He'd pretty much need to be Death Sentry for this to happen more than likely.
