Darth Plagueis couldn't stomp Darth Venamis. HoT should prove to be a great challenge for the former.

Decades before his prime.

It doesn't makes much difference unless Darth Plagueis exponentially grew in power afterwards which does not seems to be the case. Also, Darth Plagueis didn't focus much on lightsaber dueling arts.

Neither did Vitiate, yet you seem to think he can compete with high tier duelists in this category.

Noted that Vitiate rarely uses a lightsaber in combat but it would not be wise to underestimate his martial abilities. He was able to contend with Hero of Tython and Lana Beniko using a lightsaber, feats that only a master of lightsaber combat is expected to perform. It is likely that Vitiate paid some attention to Jedi dueling arts after his experience with Meetra Surik.

I suspect that Vitiate focused on mastering Form VI because it grants greater room or versatility to the Jedi in matters of using Force powers in combat situations. This form seems to suit Vitiate's combat related preferences.

The moment that argument is made, Venamis loses more terribly here.
