Have you ever played rainbow six? It's a game I originally decided not to buy because the perceived lack of content wasn't worth $60 to me. I played it recently and I regretted not buying it at launch because it's such a damn good game. It put more emphasis on outplaying your opponent than your typical shooter. Every match felt like a game of chess.

This is similar, except even deeper. Every individual battle is similar to a round in a fighting game like tekken or UFC. The combat system is really deep, and the playable characters are all unique. It has a great loot system combined with a good progression system so there is never a point where you stop unlocking better loot until you get really up there in reputation (similar to prestiging like in COD), and this will take you dozens and dozens of hours on a single character. This combined with the fact that there are 12 characters across multiple maps and game modes with more to be added in the future since all DLC is free means you won't regret the purchase. I definitely don't.

I usually have the same reservations when it comes to Ubisoft, but this is the same team who made Rainbow Six, so I gave it a chance. They didn't disappoint. If you're still worried about not liking it, the best advice I can give is to redbox it first, learn the mechanics well (spend some time fighting bots before you venture into multiplayer; if you can consistently beat or even match a level 3 bot kill for kill, you'll win 95% of your online fights), and decide for yourself if you want the full game.

Story is good, main villain is cool, and the voice acting is amazing (this is one of my favorite aspects of the game; Jennifer Hale plays a great FemWarden but MaleWarden sounds even more badass.). The single player follows multiple characters. The gameplay itself can get old though. You make your way through a level fighting minions/various minibosses, accomplish random objectives like destroying some catapults raining hell down on your people or escorting a ram during a siege, and usually ends each chapter with a tough as hell boss fight. It switches up the objectives a lot, but if you die on realistic, you restart the chapter and want to kill yourself.

It's not an amazing campaign since the game is still more geared towards multiplayer, but its a good and fun effort. It prepares you pretty well for the multiplayer since the bots are harder than any player, and gives you a ton of character unlocks/upgrade material for multi. Now, I wouldn't get this game solely for single player, but you'll enjoy both the single and multi if you go in for both.

You make it sound almost like Ryse Son of Rome, but with better gameplay.

The gameplay in this game is amazing. Especially the sword fighting mechanics. Like I said, redbox it and give it a chance before buying. See if you like it

Wait for Horizon reviews. It looks to be far better than either and I've been hearing very good things (aside from that one video).

Like Ares said, Horizon is coming out soon too. I don't know if it's going to be better than Nioh or For Honor, but it does look damn good. Plus, Ashley Burch is voice acting the main character so I'm kind of biased there too.
