Before any upgrades/resurrections, regular versions.

Fight.

How is this not a stomp in Sunfire's favor?

In the recent X-Men Gold one-shot, it was revealed that classic Sunfire was not invulnerable to his own attacks.

He absorbs the solar energy or whatever, converts it to fire attacks, but can't shield himself from it. That's what makes him different from other fire types.

Besides, how SF is gonna hurt Pyro? Total manipulation of fire means he's not gonna touch him - they'll need to go hth. Then, Sunfire wins thanks to his vague samurai training, I guess.

This isn't new. It's always been that way. When he flames on, his body is wrapped in a plasma shield that protects him from energy/heat. It was strong enough to protect him from Cyclops' optic blasts.

As long as he's flamed on, no energy attacks can hurt him. Unless this changed.

He doesn't just shoot fire, he uses radiation (unless this changed too). What's stopping him from giving Pyro stage 4 cancer?

Assuming they did retcon Sunfire's power (stupid MFers at Marvel), Sunfire can fly (at least Mach 3). What's stopping him from grabbing Pyro, flying up a couple of hundred feet, then dropping him to his death?

Pyro can't do anything to Sunfire, Sunfire has options.

What's stopping Sunfire from conducting ranged attacks ?

Wasn't Pyro a grounded character ?

Yeah he's grounded, but he can control fire.

Sunfire either melees his ass to death (he's a trained martial artist) or picks him up and drops him off a cliff.

Arguably, Pyro could take him out of the air via extinguishing his flame.

I do agree with most of your points here, but the X-Men Gold issue got me intrigued enough to make the thread.

Wait, this didn't actually happen did it? It's just Wolverine going through 'what if' scenarios vs Sunfire. How would Wolverine's claws deflect Sunfire's attacks? That's beyond stupid.

His flame is INTERNAL as Submariner found out. How would he extinguish it when water couldn't?
