Time-Immemorial
Mark Levin just destroying Obama's and liberals stance on "We are a nation of Immigrants" but we are a Nation of Citizens.

My thoughts

The left tries and tried to destroy this country, they want the people to believe we are not a nation of citizens or laws, but a nation of immigrants.

The problem with believing this left ideology is that it destroys the country we hold so dear. We do not succumb to the hair brained ideas of today and tomorrow, but we hold fast in our commitment to upholding our laws, the laws that have been their since before we all were born, and the laws that brought this country together.

Believing we are nation of immigrants not only destroys the idea of the US but it makes us vulnerable to any culture that wants to come here and change us.

Obama does not have any right nor power to fundamentally change America the way he see's fit. We not him, own our constitution.

We are a nation of both laws and immigrants. LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Don't know why it's so hard to understand for some people the difference between being here legally and being a criminal by being here illegally. If u come from another country and you wanna be an American citizen so bad then do it the legal way and no one will give u any problems.

We were a nation of immigrants, but we've got enough now, thanks.

If you're not a nation of immigrants then why do so many of your people Divide themselves with other national prefixes like African American, Italian American, Irish American etc?

We are a nation of citizens, stupid.

Isn't that a bit redundant though?

Time-Immemorial
No because the left has taken the term illegal immigrants and changed it to "migrant or immigrant"

We are not a nation of immigrants, we are a nation of citizens.

Obama wants everything the US used to stand for gone, and to be replaced by his version of America. But guess what, its not his decision.

I see.

Well, if we are just talking words its pretty meaningless, what you probably want to argue is about whether

a) Obama uses a term unfit to describe current America trying to effectively change what people think by changing their wording. The concept of a nation of immigrants could be true, in a previous meaning of the phrase, but right now the connotations are different.

b) Obama is right! America is no longer a nation of "citizens" but of "immigrants" and his new terms are actually a better fit for the current situation, but were unfit to previous versions of the country. If that's the case, maybe you don't want America to be like that, but it's already too late...

50/50 chance imo.

because it's what we love to think about ourselves.. and it's a beautiful narrative to base a country on

but as far as i understand, immigration was regulated differently pre 1960 or so... resulting in mostly white europeans before that time. and ted kennedy passed a piece of legislation which changed this some time in the 60's, resulting in a drastic change in the ethnic make up of america's immigrants, and a resulting demographic change

there is a lot of speculation about whether the democratic party is so pro immigration as a political strategy because the current policies are importing people who are largely prone to vote democrat... i dunno how well substantiated that claim is but i wouldn't dismiss it off hand. basically sounds like business as usual as far as american politics are concerned.

i guess the real question to me is whether immigration is a net negative or a net positive in this country, in terms of economic and social impact. particularly for people in the lower economic stratum. that's honestly more important to me than paying lip service to the american dream or whatever.

that being said... i honestly haven't done the necessary research to answer that question... i've seen both sides make arguments going either way.

What culture wants to change you? What is your culture? As someone else already pointed out, when you ask an American what his ethnicity is they generally say German, Italian, Irish, and even more common than expected native American (lol).
