So I apologize if you read this and you have just eaten..you might puke in your mouth.

Some may or may not of known, but recently in Chicago a 9 yr. old boy was shot and killed in what appears to of been something meant for his father(a known gang member). Apparently the kid was lured to a specific spot in order to kill him to get back at the father.

So now we have this:

https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20151108/auburn-gresham/tyshawn-lees-parents-face-criticism-for-donation-spending

They apparently got donations from people meant specifically for funeral expenses and the mother bought a new car with the money. Then the father also apparently puts up a gofundme for the funeral as well and I shit you not you can see the memorial t-shirts this mother*cker is selling of his kid.

This entire thing is sick. People like this ruin Go Fund Me for people who need it. Then to see the mothers video response to people calling her out on her shit..just amazes me. This is also why money given to Go Fund Me needs to either be spent on what it was intended for or returned.

Astner
That's what people get for being stupid and giving away their money. In Sweden we call it idiot tax.

Robtard
Have a little compassion, Astner. People thought they were legitimately helping a grieving family.

KingD19
The problem with helping people is that you have no way of knowing what they'll do with your help until it happens. They just as easily could have legitimately used the money for funeral costs.

It's like if you see a homeless guy on the street. If you give him a $5, you have no idea if he's gonna buy a burger so he can eat, or a bottle of liquor. It's a risk regardless, it's just sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it isn't.

Astner
Giving money isn't synonymous with helping. You're not helping a drug addict by giving him money.

If you want to feed a homeless man buy him a burger. If you want to fund a funeral give the money to a charity with legal obligations.

Moral of the story: Don't be lazy and don't be stupid.

Robtard
The donors were lied to, they thought their donations were going towards funeral expenses. You comparing that to feeding a drug addicts addiction is silly.

KingD19
I'm not directly comparing it. I'm saying you have no idea what the people you help will do with that help until they get it. They had every reason to believe they'd use the money properly, the way they said they would. Until they didn't.

Oh, thought you meant me.

Then they should file a lawsuit and get their back.

I didn't compare them, I said that giving money wasn't synonymous with helping, and followed up with an example.

you were suggesting that giving money never helps.

No he wasn't. It is right there in his post that he thinks the opposite:

Let's make it clear that Astner's point was to not piss money into the wind and blindly label it "charity."

lol, only on KMC can normal advice about not pissing your money away in charity scams be labeled as crazy talk. 1234

Robtard
Was their a "charity with legal obligations" option here that said donors could have opted to give instead of the gofund?

Mind your grammar.

Clever. So, was there?

In cases where you don't know, probably best not to be so quick in judging people as "idiots".

I have a very strong feeling that the words "I'm a gang member btw" or similar were not on the gofund page. Also, the mother's the one who bought the car with the funeral cash; she doesn't seem to be a gang member. The g-banger father was doing something else with another gofund.

meep-meep
I'm wondering what this father did to put his family in the position to have a rival gang to murder his adolescent son.

Surtur
Keep in mind the father has told police to "stop worrying about me and find out who did this" like this entire thing didn't happen because of him. It's one thing if the kid got killed accidentally, but this was "meant for him" in he sense it was meant as a message for the father and they specifically went after the kid and lured him out so what the hell did the father do?

Also seems like the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. The mother says she didn't spend the money on a car and it was money she "just had". But then the father is apologizing for what she did with the money. But he was asking for money himself while saying that. Almost as if they both independently decided to take advantage of this. Though those tacky memorial t-shirts were a new low.

I heard on the radio yesterday that there were memorials for the child out somewhere including a candle and it got blown over and started a fire on someone's garage. Nobody was hurt, but it is a reminder as to how people need to be careful when they put up candles and stuff at these memorials. This isn't the first instance I've heard of a fire being started in similar ways.

Time-Immemorial
Raz should start a go fund me for KMC, something that truly is at a crisis.

With the donations it almost reminds me of that woman who left her kids in a locked hot car. The kids survived, she got arrested and...then a mystical solar flare occurred and temporarily fried the brains of certain folk on the planet and they donated 100 k to her. She had the chance to wipe her slate clean by putting a certain amount of it away for her kids, but she refused. By "slate clean" I mean she would of had her arrest or whatever not put on her record, but she refused.

Oh, and she left her kids in the hot car to do a job interview, so having this crime on her record just will make it hard for her to get a job but... who cares? Dolla dolla bills yall. This is why I'd never ever ever give money to an individual if I wanted to give money away. Give it to a charity. Individuals are too stupid and greedy to be trusted.

Still following me around in every thread I see. Most flattering thumb up

So apparently the woman flew to Las Vegas on the day of burial. So she buys a car and says it is for "protection". Okay probably bullshit, but there is some valid excuse hidden in there. Maybe she thought a hit had been put on her and Vegas was the only place she would feel safe? Yeah...I mean casino's have good security. That is probably it..right? She saw "Ocean's 11" and thought "I need me protection so tight only George Clooney with a shit eating grin can bypass it".

Surtur
This Go Fund Me stuff is getting out of control now. We have a woman whose kid accidently shot himself in the face. She says she has "no idea" where the gun came from. A Go Fund Me for the childs funeral was up within 24 hours of the childs death.
