What nexus would make Bane Sidious level?

As Bane is the most dependent force user on darkside energies, based on constantly needing them to amp himself in fights/assisting him. What force nexus or darkside energies would transform DOE Bane into a force user on par with Sidious? How strong would Bane be in the core of Dromund Kaas, or if Bane drank from the Font of Power?

To really stretch out your personal theories, how strong would a darkside nexus have to be to put Bane on par with Darth Sidious as depicted in Dark Empire?

Whoa. You think the Font of Power would only make Bane on par with Sidious? Better not hear shit about lowballing him ever again.

He'd need a draining one in order to be weakened to the point of being on par with Sidious, because we see Sidious fight in the movies and he doesn't move as fast as Bane is described as moving, not even within an order of magnitude.

So, maybe a nexus that actually kills him?

There isn't a nexus like that.

Sinious
Well, Sidious uses drain and is a walking nexus. So technically, there is a nexus like that. smile

Are you seriously denying that this is true? Which part of my premises is unsound?

That Bane can move at such speeds? Mentioned several times in the novels.

That Sidious can't? Did you watch the movies?

Um, the characters in the movies don't move as fast as Bane does in the book because they're actually real actors who can't physically move at blinding, 'faster than the eye can see' speeds... confused

Yeah, that's the obvious out-of-universe explanation, but OOU explanations don't provide a meaningful justification. There's also a clear OOU reason why Bane isn't invincible; that would remove drama. But that doesn't change the fact that Bane isn't invincible - the question of why he isn't is irrelevant.

The thing is, if you want to have cohesive models of a universe to be able to evaluate them to the extent that these debates are meaningful, you need to be able to rationalize events rather than appealing to OOU forces. What's your rationalization here? That the film was in slow motion? Sorry - we can scale their movements to blaster bolts and non-Force sensitive onlookers. Indeed, it's critical to the plot that the Jedi in the Temple weren't superhumanly fast.

I love how you think making non-substantive third person posts is better form than argumentation if the argumentation reaches unpopular conclusions.

You realize that ten years ago, anyone who claimed Sidious > Bane on internet boards would've gotten laughed at for trolling, right? Judge based on the soundness of arguments, not on your own social whims. (But this requires some measure of critical thought).

Okay, so rationalize this, then: had Bane appeared in a movie, represented by an actor, just like Anakin, Obi-Wan, Mace, etc. are, would he move superhumanly fast? There is also a quote that states Windu's blades moved 'like a blur, faster than the eye could see' when he was submerged in Vaapad. Yet, during his fight against Sidious, we see nothing like that.

This wasn't ten years ago, lad. This still happens today, in this forum.

Emperordmb
When the **** do people claim Bane>Sidious?! Much less get mocked for saying the opposite?

And on this ****ing board where the mention of Bane is like a troll mating call?

FreshestSlice
Neph. Pretty much the only one.

Irrelevant. Had Harrison Ford refused to cast for RotJ, would he still have been rescued from carbonite? Because that possibility is allegedly why they put him in there. Does this mean the opening of RotJ is non-canon?

Yep, but the movies override that description. It doesn't override the description of Bane, because he isn't in the movies. evil face

Col. Valerian
Suit yourself, but that logic won't help you in debates, at least not in this forum.
