Time-Immemorial
The Obama's Secretary of the Army has stopped Female WW2 Pilots from being burying in Arlington.

Go figure.

Sounds like it's a bureaucratic issue between the army and the department of veteran affairs.

It's a very interesting story, and the service of these women should be recognized, but you somehow pinning this on the Obama administration makes this a needlessly partisan thread.

This might be a silly question, but were these women ever actually part of the army? Officially a part of it, I mean. If so then yeah it is a weird thing to do. I realize there is limited space, but why not just establish multiple cemeteries? Assuming they haven't done that already.

Since the article implies none of them ever actually fought in combat. So yeah I could see why they don't allow them if that is true.

I hate to say this..but those who fought in combat are more deserving of those burial plots IMO. Especially given the limited amount of space.

Tattoos N Scars
Do they really want to be buried there or are they just fighting for gender equality within the military? I served in the Army, but I wouldn't want to be buried there. I'd rather be buried next to my wife and family. Most vets I know feel the same way.

At least the one woman who died last year wants her ashes put there. But like I said if these people didn't actually participate in combat..well, I think the cemetery should just be for that.
