Loving the thread thumb up

Flyattractor
Its fun to imagine Sanders with Stalin's mustache.

Stigma
Stalin rocks killer stache.

But yeah, Sanders tries really hard to rival his comrade

Flyattractor
So what state would Bernie put his Gulags in?

As a socialist he'll ensure they are shared by all the states.

LOL

I see the anger grew in you for so long.Good Gooood.

Flyattractor
I think King Joker just volunteered to have a Gulag put in his backyard.

Cause he cares about re-educating those with different opinions.

Like how Stalin ...RE_EDUCATED the Ukraine.

Omega Vision
6/8.

Seriously though, what's the point of this quiz? Except for the last quote, none of these are all that controversial, and more than half of them are common sense. Is it trying to say that Bernie is anything like Stalin? If so, it's not at all convincing.

Now compare the Lucille Bluth vs Donald Trump quiz--that's some fascinating reading.

Yeah, those things are more fun when you take outrageous statements that people make. Like the Mitt Romney or Mr. Burns thing. If you take things like "Hello, what's up guys"...well, I guess either Bernie or Stalin could have said that, but so what...

Surtur
I also found myself asking what the point of this is? The very first quote it showed me was "The history of American Democracy, to say the least, has been checkered".

Uh, which is just a fact. Does it matter who said it? Even if Hitler said that quote he'd of been 100% correct.

That is true.

Although the underlying motive seems to be to show that there are different kinds of socialists, like Sanders and Stalin. Different yet still full of fail because of their ideology. thumb up

There's an old saying in the former Eastern bloc, "Every socialist is the enemy of humankind." Seems legit.

Bardock42
Tbh, Bernie is really stretching the definition of socialist when he calls himself that. He's really more of a social democrat in the German way.

As it is I am very confident in my claims as I have put a lot of work on learning about political ideologies. I guess names like Von Mises, Hayek, Fromm are meaningless to you. Heck, even Marx is pretty straightforward on that issue thumb up

But as far as I got to know you, you are not interested in exploring the issue and understanding it. Thus, my advice is: read the wise words of Churchill in my signature and think who was Churchill opposing during the WWII.

This is my.... final answer *puts on sunglasses CSI Miami style* cool

I never really believe Churchill quotes anymore because him and Einstein are attributed with thousands of things they never said. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

Edit: Though that one is real. A lot of them aren't.

Ushgarak
It's literally real but it's a godawful mashup of different sources and so trying to present it as a single coherent quote- even more as one sentence- is poor citation and is not something that would be used by anyone who has made reasonable academic study. Half of it has been Frankensteined in from a speech where he attacks capitalism and socialism alike.

It is, in any case, pretty bloody stupid to take Churchill as any sort of expert on peacetime politics. He was awful at that- that's why he was voted out after the war. Look at this attitudes on Gandhi.

A Churchill 'quote' like that is an appeal to... non-authority.

In any case, agreed, that this thread mater is pretty feeble, so closed.
