Darth Demenos
naval battle
both with the same amount of forces

Tondemonai
Probably Thrawn. He was an insane tactical genius; where Revan was more of a warrior and morale booster.

Revan was also an insane tactical genius, took down the Mandalorians as the one who literally made every single plan the Republic had, he also would have taken over the Galaxy after turning to the dark side if Malak hadn't made him lose his memory.

Bastila and those Jedi would have been killed by Revan, and the power of the Star Forge would have destroyed the republic.

He also outsmarted the Rakatans.

Difference is that Revan was a big picture strategist, sacrificing one world to make another impenetrable. Just like Canderous explained. Thrawn is the guy who makes your fleet look like a bunch of rookiees, he is the one who smashes far larger fleets with inferior ships but wins because's he far smarter.

Two very different types of admirals, Thrawn wins any naval confrontation.

So, in your terms.

Revan wins on the ground, but Thrawn wins in a space battle?

If Revan has the Star Forge and Thrawn doesn't know where it is, the battle will be over in less then 10 minutes in space.

Actually, Revan is more like the guy who'd do anything if he knew it'd bring him a victory, he sacrificed an entire world because he knew thats what it would take to win the war against the Mandos.

Revan still would've won that war without the destruction of Malachor V, but he won it that much quicker, because he knew that by sacrificing some of his own forces, he sealed the Mandos fate, and at that point, they had no chance.

Where that the case, he would have no need for admirals and advisers.

Karath was one of the top admirals there too so...?

Arguable, Revan seemed disinterested in Bastila compared to Malak, likely meaning he had no idea what her abilities could do.

Let's be real too, Malak send people to contentiously hound Bastila/Revan; Calo, Bandon, the various DS Jedi peons. If Revan was more interested in key colonies/planets or what have you, i think the jedi have a chance.

Non Force Sensitives Rakata who were enamored by the idea of being granted access to their past, not much of a military feat when this race has lost all tactical know how.

well neither have any grand abilities in ground forces leadership, at least in regards to Army Positioning, route securing, reinforcement deployment etc.

I would doubt that, two-three Hammerheads took down the Star Forge no problem, and Thrawn's forces have superior firepower by virtue of more modern technology.

Like-wise, the same could be argued for Revan ancient ships, they're less advanced, by several thousand years so. No your assessment would be wrong.

Here he has no key position to do that.

Revan can't afford to sacrifice a ship unless he orders them to ram into one of the star destroyers, but even then a couple of Tie Bombers escorted by Tie Fighters and Tie Interceptors could destroy Revan's relic of a ship pretty quickly

See above.

Revan loses pretty hard.
