Well that's the thing. Will he even get paid the money. Not sure how it works over there but the court system here when it awards damages you then have to immediately petition the court to enforce those damages or you can get nothing. Most likely if he does get the money it won't even be from who he sued but from an insurance company who will probably launch a case so they don't have to pay.

I never understood why sometimes people/companies will be forced to pay money that the courts know they can't pay. Not that I don't think they should be sued, but if they can't pay this amount then what was the point? Do people from the company get put in prison if they can't pay? Will the company just be shut down if they can't pay?

Gawker buried their own grave with this one. Just goes to show that when Hulk wants to win, he wins.

This should serve as an example for people that want to invade someone else's private life. I don't know if you guys heard but a Espn sports anchor sued and won against a guy and a hotel company for posting a video of her naked in her hotel room, a few weeks ago. Yeah, Gawker could file for bankruptcy as well since their net revenue is much lower than the $115m and Hogan would be left with the scraps of that.

Gawker's filing an appeal, so the $115m could be overturned and then he'll likely be back in court, finding a settlement that he and Gawker are content with.

There's also the 'punitive damages' case that has yet to be awarded, so either way, Hogan's coming out of this with a substantial amount of cash, even if it isn't the 115mil.

One of the guys from Gawker, while under oath, joked that he'd release a sex tape of children over the age of 4. There is no way they'll get it overturned, not when the jury hates them this much, hell, the jury just threw on another $25mil after Gawker pleaded.

Yeah, read that, guy's an idiot and a degenerate, but the appeal's court does not have a jury, it's three judges that decide whether the verdict was just or not.

The 25mil was for the punitive damages, I imagine Gawker will appeal that too, if they're allowed.

Even so, Gawker's basically alienated the public and the courts, I can't imagine the appeal going through, and even if it did, the cost of them appealing would hurt them anyway.
