ROTS Obi-Wan vs ROTS Obi-Wan with one stipulation

One Obi-Wan isn't Obi-Wan because he's emptied himself of himself to be a hollow vessel while the other Obi-Wan stands before him by simply being who he is.

According to the ROTS novel at one point Obi-Wan's such an amazing fighter because he empties himself of himself and becomes nothing more than a hollow vessel, yet a few paragraphs later it states that he's as good as he is by simply being who he is. So which way is it then Stover? WHICH WAY IS IT?!

That depends on who attacks first or which Obi-Wan first recognizes the nonsense of the fight or some other deep philosophy
