Why does dream look like neil gaiman now?

dynamix
what story was that? the one where Dream chat with his Mother

Galan007
^ Sandman: Overture.

It was a 6-issue mini that was written by Gaiman, and ran from 2013-2015.

awesome, thanks, Galan! Gonna hit up Newbury tomorrow to see if i can find it.

Galan007
I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of the Sandman franchise. It is an excellent read... And the artwork is superb as well. thumb up

dynamix
they only had the first chapter at Newbury but man its awesome so far! Galan, was Destiny almost interpreted as a Meta-textual in that chapter? It was weird...in a good way lol

Galan007
Glad you enjoyed it. thumb up

Remember, Destiny knows 'the plan', which means he knows the story itself. Absolutely everything that can/will/does happen is in his Book -- that is his fundamental function as a character. Because of this all-encompassing knowledge, Destiny will always *seem* like he is borderline metatextual, but I don't think that is necessarily Gaiman's intent.

More than most other characters, Destiny is very much limited/confined to the concept of in-universe story... He cannot transcend the story, like a true metatextual being can.

dynamix
ha yeah the way he was turning the page and seeing himself turn the page had me thinking meta lol. good points as usual.
