The_Tempest
Sidious as depicted in the ROTS novel versus Vitiate as depicted in the Revan novel. All out fight, Geonosian hangar.

Ursumeles
LMFAO.
Sidious comes close to ragdolling.

Beniboybling
Novel!Sidious spread his dark side influence across the entire galaxy, left Windu choking on ozone, sent Yoda packing and Vader couldn't touch him. Novel!Vitiate got put on his ass by Revan. Viti gets curbed. smile

The_Tempest
Yeah, ngl I forgot about Vader literally being unable to touch Sidious with the Force. erm

Ursumeles
Palpatine is the strongest non-entity Darksider.

The_Tempest
Any good arguments to be made in defense of Vitiate?

The best argument imo would be, Valk>>Sidious(lmao) and that the gap between Novel Vitate and Valk isn't that large.

That may be the best argument, but it's certainly not a good argument lol.

Ursumeles
Yeah. Imfavor RotS Sids over Valk, so, Novel Vitate is ****ed, imo.

MythLord
Sheev.

UCanShootMyNova
Sidious after his fight with Yoda or...

Azronger
Solely from his depiction in the novel, or can other feats be included as well?

Petrus
Sheev Palpatine takes this fight.

The Ellimist
Sidious closer to the end of the Plagueis novel would win this lmfao.

McP
Stover exaggerates characters' abilities much more then Karpyshyn.
Stover's!Sidious stomps Karpyshyn's!Vitiate. It's like compering CW!Mace to movies!Yoda in TK battle...

Sinious
ROTS is overkill. I thought this would be the Plagueis novel as that would have been more interesting.

Definitely looks that way per the poll. But Sidious in Darth Plagueis really only has like, what? One fight scene in that entire book? Which is less a fight scene than it is the indiscriminate slaughter of Mooks and other fodder?

Sinious
I thought Plagueis' feats could be used to gauge where Sidious stands. It's still lame but better than ROTS Sheev's auto-victory via quotes.

SunRazer
Indeed.

Who brought up "auto victory via quotes"??

Are you still complaining about feat wars? lmao.

Sinious
I did, as someone definitely would if a debate took place, which I don't have a problem with tbh. Just saying.

If this was supposed to be including the hype that comes out of these writers' flowery language, then barring specific quotes, I'm not sure who is portrayed as more powerful and epic.

There are... worse characters to have difficulty against. I wouldn't call this very much of a black mark.

Seeing as how he couldn't overpower Revan with uncharged lightning while on a dark side nexus, whereas Sidious could push Yoda's tutanimus to its limits on neutral territory, I think it's pretty damning. And there are plenty of quotes that suggest Yoda > any previous Jedi (which would include Revan).

Trocity
Not even suggest, they outright state he is the greatest Jedi ever till that point in time.

AncientPower
Alternatively, there are quotes claiming Yoda was Sidious' equal in the Force.

SunRazer
There's more proclaiming Sidious as the more powerful one, especially in Canon.

AncientPower
True but even the novel alludes to the idea that Yoda could dance with him all day, he just wasn't capable of beating him. Stalemate in other words.

SunRazer
The novel has Sidious winning.

Azronger
So if this is just Sidious up to RotS with all sources allowed, he stomps.

Ursumeles
Who the **** voted for Vitate laughing

Beniboybling

The_Tempest
I thought this would be a more contentious match considering the parallels. And both Karpyshyn and Stover are known for wankery.

SunRazer
The difference being that Stover doesn't have to sacrifice continuity and characterization to do it smile
