This is just bad reading comprehension.

There are different verb tenses and stuff.

That's his usual thing "that's not what he said or you don't understand what he said."

The only other way I could even remotely see someone interpreting that is that Obama was taking a shot at Republicans. So in other words he was going "thankfully Democrats control these machines, because the Republicans cheat".

But that doesn't add up. Especially since he says at the end democrats do it too.

I guess the idea is that Obama is obviously speaking strictly about the way the democrats behaved a long time ago and that he wasn't talking about the present day democrats.

Except he's talking about it in 2008, and in the vertias videos they are talking about doing the past 50 years and in this election
