I've heard conflicting claims about whether these books are subjecive, in-universe sources, or objective, out-of-universe sources.

Can anyone clarify this?

DarthAnt66
TNEC is in-universe limited.

TCSWE is in-universe omniscient.

I think so, at least.

Are there sources confirming this? I know one of them has a statement saying it's from the perspective of historians, but which one?

SunRazer
TNEC is by Tionne Solusar and potentially others, IIRC. TCSWE is just omniscient, I believe.

Azronger
Where is it stated that it is omniscient?

SunRazer
If it's not stated to be from the perspective of anyone in-universe, you can assume it's omniscient. It never refers to any sort of perspective either.

The preface also mentions that the author(s) are solely responsible for any misinformation, which means that there's no errors due to character beliefs or in-universe limitations.

Azronger
The quote/scan of the preface would be appreciated.

SunRazer
I'll post it later.
